Responsibility
Enterprise Backup Platforms: Hands-on with at least one major solution—Veritas NetBackup, Commvault, Veeam, IBM Spectrum Protect (TSM), Dell EMC NetWorker, Rubrik, Cohesity.
· Policy & Job Management: Backup policies, schedules, retention, encryption, compression, deduplication.
· Storage & Media: SAN/NAS, tape libraries (LTO, barcode management), virtual tape libraries (VTL), Data Domain/ExaGrid or similar dedup appliances.
· Workload Coverage: VMware/Hyper‑V (VADP), physical servers, databases (SQL/Oracle/PostgreSQL), NAS shares, O365/M365.
· Snapshots & Replication: Array-level snapshots (e.g., NetApp, HPE, Dell), copy jobs, AIR/SRT, synthetic/full/incremental strategies.
· Cloud Backup: Backup to/from AWS/Azure/GCP object storage, immutability (S3 Object Lock), recovery of cloud workloads.
· RTO/RPO & DR: Designing and meeting recovery objectives, performing restoration drills, DR orchestration.
· Operating Systems: Windows/Linux agent deployment and troubleshooting.
· Scripting/Automation: PowerShell/Bash for job automation, reporting, API integrations.
· Security & Compliance: Encryption at rest/in flight, role-based access, audit trails, retention legal hold, ransomware-resilient designs.
· Monitoring & Reporting: Capacity/utilization, job success/failed trends, SLA dashboards.
· Processes: ITIL-aligned Incident/Change/Problem management; CMDB updates and SOP documentation.
