Position Title: Network Operations & VPS Support Engineer
Role Type: 6-Month Contract (Outside IR35 / B2B / Independent Contractor)
Day Rate: €250 / day (Gross daily rate, paid in local currency equivalent)
Location: 100% Remote (Global — Open to candidates worldwide)

Role Overview
We are seeking mid-level Network Operations Engineers to join a global operational team supporting customer-facing public cloud infrastructure.
In this role, you will be part of a dedicated Network Operations function responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and configuring Virtual Private Servers (VPS / Virtual Server Instances) and their underlying virtual network fabrics (VPCs, subnets, routing tables, and firewalls).
This is a hands-on operational support position ideal for engineers with strong core networking fundamentals and practical exposure to public cloud environments. You do not need to be a deep specialist in a specific proprietary cloud platform—comprehensive onboarding, training on our specific environment, and operational runbooks will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
VPS & Cloud Network Operations: Monitor, diagnose, and resolve network connectivity issues impacting Virtual Private Servers (VPS/VSI) across public cloud environments.
VPC Infrastructure Management: Configure and maintain virtual private clouds (VPCs), subnets, route tables, Internet Gateways, Security Groups/Network ACLs, and cloud firewalls.
Incident Response & Network Fault Isolation: Respond to customer-impacting network incidents, investigating packet loss, latency, and routing failures using standard network diagnostic tools.
Operational Execution: Follow established operational procedures, Network Operations runbooks, and change management processes to execute routine network updates.
Escalation & Documentation: Document technical findings and action logs during incident recovery, escalating complex infrastructure anomalies to senior engineering teams.
Core Qualifications & Requirements
Network Operations Fundamentals: Solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing & switching, subnets, VPN technologies (IPsec/SSL), firewalls, load balancers, and DNS.
VPS & Cloud Experience: Practical experience configuring, managing, and troubleshooting Virtual Private Servers (VPS/VSI) and Virtual Private Clouds (VPC) on at least one major public cloud platform (e.g., IBM Cloud, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or DigitalOcean).
Network Security & Firewalls: Experience configuring and auditing cloud security groups, network ACLs, and firewall rules to secure virtual compute instances.
Methodical Troubleshooting: Proven ability to trace connectivity problems across L2/L3 layers from the customer VPS instance through the cloud routing fabric.
Languages: Professional working proficiency in English (written and spoken).
Preferred / Bonus Skills (Not Mandatory)
Experience working in a Network Operations Center (NOC), Managed Service Provider (MSP), or customer-facing L2 technical support environment.
Experience with network monitoring and observability tools (e.g., Grafana, Zabbix, Prometheus, Wireshark).
Basic exposure to infrastructure automation or scripting (Terraform, Ansible, Python, Bash).
