Job Title: Packaging Engineer
Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and hands-on Packaging Engineer professional to develop and improve packaging solutions for UNITECH’s speakers and other consumer electronics products. The role will focus on creating packaging that provides strong product protection during handling, storage, and transportation, while being practical, cost-effective, and suitable for manufacturing. The candidate will work closely with production, packing teams, quality, purchase, logistics, and packaging suppliers.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop packaging solutions for small, large, heavy, fragile, and differently shaped products across UNITECH’s product range.
· Design and develop outer cartons and internal protective packaging using corrugated boxes, foam, EPE/EPS, inserts, partitions, and other suitable materials.
· Ensure products are protected against impact, drops, vibration, compression, and movement during transportation.
· Develop packaging prototypes, conduct packing trials, and identify areas for improvement.
· Analyse packaging failures and transit damage and implement solutions to reduce product damage and customer complaints.
· Optimise packaging dimensions, materials, and packing methods to balance product protection, packaging cost, storage, and transportation efficiency.
· Work closely with factory packing and production teams to ensure packaging is implemented correctly and efficiently.
· Coordinate with packaging suppliers for material development, samples, specifications, quality, and cost.
· Prepare and maintain packaging specifications, BOMs, packing instructions, and other relevant documentation.
· Drive continuous improvement in packaging quality, material usage, cost, and overall packaging performance.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
· Diploma or degree in Packaging Technology, Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
· 1-3 years of relevant experience in packaging development, engineering, or operations.
· Strong knowledge of corrugated cartons, cushioning, inserts, foam, EPE/EPS, and protective packaging.
· Experience in packaging fragile, heavy, large, or irregularly shaped products.
· Understanding of drop, compression, stacking, vibration, and transit testing.
· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
· Good understanding of packaging cost and material optimisation.
· Comfortable working on the factory floor and with production, packing teams, and suppliers.
· Ability to develop practical and manufacturable packaging solutions.
· Experience with consumer electronics, speakers, appliances, furniture, or other large/fragile products is preferred.
