Senior Quality Specialist (Quality Engineering)
Position Summary:
FM India is seeking a Senior Quality Specialist to drive software quality across the entire development lifecycle. This role is responsible for defining/maintaining test strategies, building and maintaining automation solutions, validating business-critical applications, and ensuring high-quality software is delivered to production.
The ideal candidate is a Quality Engineer who understands how to assess risk, determines testing scope, automate effectively, and provides clear release readiness recommendations. The role partners closely with Product Owners, Software Engineers, Architects, and DevOps teams within an Agile delivery environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Define test strategies, test plans, and quality approaches for new features and enhancements.
Analyze business and technical requirements to determine appropriate testing scope and coverage.
Design, develop, and maintain automated test solutions using modern automation frameworks.
Execute and support functional, integration, regression, API, and end-to-end testing activities.
Participate in requirements reviews, design reviews, code reviews, and defect triage sessions.
Validate APIs, databases, integrations, and business workflows.
Support performance, reliability, security, and production readiness testing.
Maintain quality metrics and dashboards and provide quality recommendations for releases.
Advocate and promote Quality Engineering best practices across development teams.
Mentor team members and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Experience:
3-5 years of experience in Software Quality Assurance or Software Quality Engineering as a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET).
Experience working in Agile/Scrum software delivery teams.
Experience testing enterprise web applications, APIs, databases, and distributed systems.
Must-Have Skills:
Quality Engineering:
Proven ability to define testing scope, testing strategy, automation strategy, and release readiness criteria based on business risk and technical complexity.
Strong understanding of functional, integration, regression, end-to-end, performance, and security testing.
Test Automation:
Strong programming skills in C#, Java, or another object-oriented language.
Hands-on experience designing and maintaining automation frameworks using Playwright, Selenium, Cypress, or similar technologies.
Experience implementing automated testing within CI/CD pipelines and Azure DevOps.
API & System Testing:
Experience testing REST APIs, microservices, and distributed applications.
Strong understanding of service integrations, authentication, authorization, and error handling validation.
Data Validation:
Strong SQL/T-SQL skills and experience validating complex business rules, data transformations, and system integrations.
Experience performing root cause analysis and data quality validation.
Cloud & Modern Applications:
Experience testing on-premises, cloud, and hybrid web applications.
Understanding of Azure, AWS, or GCP environments, modern web architectures, and distributed systems.
Collaboration & Communication:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven ability to work closely with developers, architects, product owners, and business stakeholders.
Experience influencing teams to adopt quality-first engineering practices.
Quality Metrics:
Experience maintaining quality dashboards and engineering metrics.
Ability to measure and improve automation coverage, defect leakage, escaped defects, and release quality.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Playwright test automation.
Experience with performance testing tools (JMeter, k6, LoadRunner).
Knowledge of security testing and secure SDLC practices.
Experience using GitHub Copilot, Microsoft Copilot, or other AI-assisted tools to improve testing and automation productivity.
ISTQB or equivalent Quality Engineering certification.
