At the same time, 30% of water is lost globally through leaks and bursts in water distribution networks. The solution is a smart water network and an active water loss management. But water utilities are missing data to prevent leaks and manage their network efficiently. PYDRO’s mission is to preserve water! Our self-powered solutions are unique and we can change the way of managing water networks worldwide.
The IoT Solution Architect & Embedded Software Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of Pydro's connected monitoring solutions. The role combines embedded software development, system architecture, cloud integration, and technical leadership to deliver reliable end-to-end IoT products. The successful candidate will work across the entire product lifecycle, including requirements analysis, embedded firmware development, cellular communications, cloud connectivity, data management, testing, deployment, and operational support.
Your Job:
Embedded Software Development
Design, develop, and maintain embedded firmware for IoT devices using C/C++ and RTOS-based platforms (Zephyr).
Implement sensor integration, telemetry acquisition, data processing, diagnostics, and device control functionality.
Develop communication interfaces for cellular modems, peripheral devices, and external sensors.
Design and implement local data logging, fault recovery, and firmware update mechanisms.
Investigate and resolve firmware, hardware, and field-related issues through root-cause analysis.
System & Solution Architecture
Define end-to-end IoT architectures spanning embedded devices, connectivity, cloud services, databases, and user applications.
Translate product and business requirements into technical solutions and implementation plans.
Produce architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and system documentation.
Evaluate technologies and recommend improvements to product architecture.
Connectivity & Cloud Integration
Design and support secure telemetry pipelines and cloud integrations.
Implement and maintain MQTT-based communication architectures.
Support device provisioning, remote monitoring, and lifecycle management.
Collaborate on cloud-based data processing and analytics solutions.
Requirements Engineering & Product Development
Gather and analyse customer, business, and technical requirements.
Develop functional specifications, use cases, and system workflows.
Support project planning, technical estimation, and design reviews.
Collaborate with other product stakeholders.
Testing & Validation
Develop and maintain automated test systems and validation environments.
Define verification strategies for firmware and integrated system functionality.
Support product qualification, release testing, and continuous improvement activities.
Operational Support
Support deployed systems through troubleshooting, performance analysis, and corrective actions.
Participate in incident investigations and field issue resolution.
Contribute to long-term maintainability, reliability, and product lifecycle planning.
You bring:
Successfully completed a degree or Masters in Mechatronics, Electrical engineering or computer science.
You have successfully taken IoT products from initial concept through to mass production, and you can provide clear evidence of these achievements.
You are a problem solver, can work autonomously and are willing to get your hands dirty.
Knowledge in: Embedded C/C++ development, RTOS-based systems (Zephyr preferred), Cellular IoT technologies (LTE-M, NB-IoT, GSM), MQTTS, LwM2M and IoT communication protocols, Device Management and FOTA, Embedded data logging and flash memory management, Cloud platforms, System architecture and technical documentation, Industrial IoT and remote monitoring systems.
Proficiency in working with AI coding tools like Claude Code or Codex.
You enjoy working in fast-paced start-up environments
Fluent English, German would be nice to have.
