Junior Java/Jakarta EE Developer Intern

Role Overview
We are seeking a motivated Java/Jakarta EE Intern to assist our engineering team in enhancing the security and performance of our enterprise platform modules. Working under the direct supervision of Senior Architects, you will focus on implementing OWASP-aligned security patches and optimising specific core frameworks for multi-tenancy and high-volume batch processing.
Key Responsibilities
Vulnerability Remediation: Apply input validation and contextual encoding to specific, assigned application modules to mitigate OWASP Top 10 risks.
Isolated Component Refactoring: Assist in completing the updating of the application's persistence tiers to Jakarta Persistence (JPA) from JDBC.
Automated Tooling Integration: Set up and monitor automated security pipelines (e.g., OWASP Dependency-Check) on localised development branches.
Code Documentation: Document security fixes and architectural optimisations to ensure seamless integration by core system maintainers.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Core Java Mastery: Strong foundational understanding of Java (OOP, Collections, Multithreading).
Enterprise Java Knowledge: Familiarity with Java EE / Jakarta EE specifications (EJB, JPA, CDI).
Security Awareness: Basic understanding of web application vulnerabilities like the OWASP Top 10.
