React Frontend Developer Intern

About the Role
We are building a new rideshare platform from the ground up and are looking for a React Frontend Developer Intern to join our growing engineering team. This internship is designed for a student, recent graduate, or entry-level developer who wants hands-on experience building real-world web applications using modern frontend technologies such as React, TypeScript, JavaScript, REST APIs, responsive design, and modern component-based development practices.
The intern will work directly under our Senior Full Stack Engineer and will receive assigned tasks, technical guidance, code reviews, UI requirements, and ongoing mentorship throughout the internship. The intern will primarily assist with the development of internal and administrative web applications used to support the rideshare platform, including dashboards, reporting interfaces, driver and rider management tools, promotion management, operational tools, and other frontend features. Interns will work exclusively through designated development environments and GitHub branches. Interns will not make independent production changes or receive unrestricted production access. All code must be reviewed and approved by the Senior Full Stack Engineer before it can be merged or deployed.
This is an unpaid internship focused on practical experience, mentorship, frontend development, and exposure to the engineering processes involved in building a production-focused rideshare platform.
Responsibilities
As a React Frontend Developer Intern, you may assist with:
Developing and maintaining frontend features using React and TypeScript
Building reusable React components
Creating responsive web pages and application interfaces
Integrating frontend applications with REST APIs
Displaying and managing backend data through frontend interfaces
Building administrative dashboards and internal tools
Creating forms for creating and editing platform data
Implementing form validation and user-friendly error messages
Developing tables, filters, search tools, and pagination
Building reporting and analytics interfaces
Assisting with coupon and promotion management interfaces
Creating rider and driver management screens
Implementing loading states, empty states, success messages, and error states
Improving frontend performance and usability
Fixing assigned frontend bugs
Ensuring layouts work across different screen sizes
Following provided UI designs and frontend requirements
Working with GitHub branches and pull requests
Writing frontend tests where appropriate
Participating in code reviews and engineering discussions
Documenting frontend components, features, and completed work
Learning and following the team's development, testing, and deployment processes

Requirements
We are looking for candidates who have:
Current enrollment in, recent graduation from, or entry-level experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Web Development, or a related field
Foundational experience with React
Understanding of JavaScript and/or TypeScript
Understanding of HTML and CSS
Basic knowledge of responsive web design
Basic understanding of REST APIs
Experience consuming API data from a frontend application
Understanding of React components, props, and state
Familiarity with forms and frontend validation
Basic understanding of Git and GitHub workflows
Ability to understand and follow technical and UI requirements
Willingness to receive feedback and participate in code reviews
Strong problem-solving skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Ability to communicate progress, blockers, and questions clearly

Production credentials will not be provided unless specifically required and authorized
Interns will not independently deploy code to production
All pull requests must be reviewed and approved before merging
All production-related changes must be approved by senior engineering staff
