As Product Manager, you will serve as the strategic and technical champion for the coatings portfolio, partnering with customers and cross-functional teams to drive profitability, market leadership, and long-term product sustainability.
Responsibilities:
Develop and execute short- and long-term strategies to drive revenue growth, market share expansion, and margin improvement.
Own the coatings product portfolio strategy, financial performance, pricing framework, segmentation, and lifecycle management.
Monitor market trends, competitive activity, emerging coating technologies, customer requirements, and growth opportunities.
Lead product rationalization, innovation roadmaps, and new product introduction initiatives.
Build value propositions, sales enablement materials, product literature, and promotional strategies.
Serve as the primary commercial and technical product expert during customer visits, field trials, demonstrations, and technical consultations.
Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, R&D, Marketing, and Finance to deliver product and business objectives.
Establish product KPIs, support budgeting and forecasting, resolve customer challenges, and ensure alignment with regulatory and EHS requirements.
Up to 40% travel, some international.
Must-Have Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Materials, Metallurgical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
At least 5 years of experience in product management, marketing, technical sales, or related industrial B2B roles.
Strong experience with commercial strategy, pricing, profitability, portfolio management, and market analysis.
Knowledge of foundry, coatings, refractory, materials, chemical, metals, or manufacturing industries.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects from strategy through execution.
Excellent customer-facing communication, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to travel throughout the United States, Canada, and Mexico, including occasional international travel.
Strong ownership, planning, adaptability, emotional intelligence, and commitment to continuous improvement.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
MBA or advanced business training.
Experience with product application engineering, technical troubleshooting, or field trials.
Exposure to metals processing, quality control, product development, or manufacturing operations.
Experience managing or collaborating with both hourly and salaried personnel.
Background working with distributors, strategic partners, industry associations, trade shows, or technical conferences.
Experience with value-based pricing, product rationalization, or regional portfolio transformation.
