Employment Type: Full-time, 6-month fixed-term employment contract
Salary: $75,000 CAD annualized
Company: XpertVR
About XpertVR
XpertVR develops immersive VR and XR training simulations for emergency response, public safety, industrial safety, and other high-risk environments.
We are expanding our development team to build the next generation of our real-time simulation platform.
The Role
We are looking for a Unity VR Developer to help develop the systems that power dynamic and adaptive VR training scenarios.
You will work on simulation-state architecture, scenario logic, environmental systems, VR integration, modular content, and application performance.
What You’ll Work On
Developing VR applications building upon existing systems using Unity and C#
Building real-time simulation-state and scenario-event systems
Connecting participant actions and instructor controls to dynamic scenario changes
Developing interaction systems for environments, hazards, and equipment
Integrating NPC, AI, animation, and environmental systems
Supporting pump, hydraulic, fire, and hazardous-material simulation systems
Developing modular content loading for scenarios and environments
Profiling and optimizing CPU, GPU, memory, and runtime performance
Testing systems on desktop and standalone VR hardware
The project’s core architecture must continuously coordinate participant actions, instructor inputs, hazards, environmental conditions, and scenario events without requiring a restart.
What We’re Looking For
Strong Unity and C# development experience
Experience building VR/XR, games, simulations, or real-time 3D applications
Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software architecture
Experience with debugging, profiling, and performance optimization
Familiarity with Git or similar version-control systems
Strong problem-solving and collaboration skills
Nice to have:
OpenXR, Meta Quest, or PICO development experience
State machines, behaviour trees, or simulation architecture
Addressables, asset bundles, or modular/DLC systems
Networking or multi-user VR development
Physics or procedural simulation experience
Experience with training or serious-game applications
What Success Looks Like in 6 Months
By the end of the contract, you will have helped deliver:
A stable real-time simulation architecture capable of changing incident conditions during runtime
Multiple scenario configurations operating within a shared environment
Integration of AI, environmental, hazard, and instructor-control systems
Modular scenario content that can be packaged and loaded independently of the core application
A stable integrated build tested across multiple scenario and hazard types
The final project milestone requires the architecture to support structural fire, pump and hydraulic behaviour, hazardous materials, modular content, and an integrated prototype stable across repeated training sessions.
Employment Requirements
Applicants must:
Reside in Canada
Be legally eligible to work in Canada for the full contract period
Be available for full-time employment during the six-month project
Work arrangement
Yes
