About the Role
Enqbator is seeking an experienced, hands-on Lead Systems Administrator / Network Engineer to take ownership of server, network, virtualization, storage, and infrastructure environments.
Depending on the engagement, this role may support Enqbator-managed environments, client environments, or operate as an embedded technical resource within a client organization.
This is not an entry-level or junior position. We are looking for someone with significant real-world infrastructure experience who can independently troubleshoot complex issues, make sound technical decisions, and serve as the go-to person for systems and network operations.

Key ResponsibilitiesNetwork Infrastructure
Configure, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot internal and external networks.
Administer routers, switches, VLANs, routing, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, LAN/WAN, and site-to-site connectivity.
Troubleshoot latency, packet loss, DNS, routing, connectivity, and performance issues.
Maintain network diagrams, configurations, IP addressing, and documentation.
Proactively monitor network availability, bandwidth, and utilization.
Firewalls, Security & Proxy Services
Configure and manage firewalls, proxy servers, VPNs, NAT policies, ACLs, and secure remote access.
Review firewall and network configurations for unnecessary or outdated access.
Support vulnerability remediation, patching, system hardening, and security best practices.
Monitor for security-related infrastructure events.
Maintain appropriate privileged-access and least-privilege controls.
Active Directory & Identity
Administer Microsoft Active Directory environments.
Manage users, groups, computers, OUs, Group Policies, permissions, and service accounts.
Maintain domain controllers, DNS integration, replication, and authentication services.
Troubleshoot authentication, login, Group Policy, and domain-related issues.
Windows & Linux Server Administration
Install, configure, patch, monitor, and troubleshoot Windows Server and Linux systems.
Manage operating systems, services, applications, scheduled tasks, and certificates.
Perform OS upgrades and lifecycle management.
Diagnose CPU, memory, disk, application, network, and performance issues.
Maintain secure and properly patched server environments.
Virtualization & Virtual Machines
Administer physical and virtual server environments.
Provision, configure, resize, migrate, and troubleshoot virtual machines.
Monitor host and VM CPU, memory, storage, and network utilization.
Perform capacity planning and manage VM lifecycle.
Troubleshoot virtualization hosts, storage, networking, and guest operating systems.
Physical Servers & Infrastructure
Manage enterprise servers, chassis, network equipment, and related hardware.
Configure and troubleshoot firmware, BIOS, RAID controllers, network interfaces, and hardware components.
Coordinate hardware replacement and vendor support when required.
Maintain accurate hardware and infrastructure inventories.
Storage
Configure and manage NAS, SAN, RAID, volumes, shares, permissions, and enterprise storage.
Monitor storage utilization, performance, availability, and hardware health.
Plan capacity expansion proactively.
Troubleshoot storage connectivity and performance issues.
Monitoring & Availability
Take ownership of keeping assigned infrastructure operational and proactively monitored.
Maintain monitoring and alerting for servers, networks, firewalls, Internet connectivity, storage, CPU, memory, disk, critical services, and virtualization infrastructure.
Investigate alerts promptly and resolve issues before they become significant outages.
Perform regular infrastructure health checks.
Identify recurring issues and implement permanent solutions rather than temporary fixes.
Backup, Recovery & Business Continuity
Maintain and monitor backup systems.
Verify successful backups and perform periodic restore testing.
Support disaster recovery planning and testing.
Maintain documentation required to restore critical infrastructure.
Incident Response & Troubleshooting
You will serve as a primary escalation point for complex infrastructure issues.
Rapidly diagnose production infrastructure problems.
Perform root-cause analysis.
Restore services quickly during outages.
Coordinate with client teams, vendors, and other technical resources as needed.
Document major incidents and corrective actions.
Implement improvements to prevent recurrence.
You must be comfortable independently taking ownership of critical issues through complete resolution.
Documentation
Maintain infrastructure and network diagrams.
Document server, firewall, network, storage, and virtualization configurations.
Maintain hardware and software inventories.
Document operational procedures, troubleshooting steps, and recovery processes.
Required Qualifications
7+ years of hands-on Systems Administration, Network Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated senior-level expertise.
Experience supporting production environments where availability and security are business-critical.
Strong Windows Server and Linux administration experience.
Advanced knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
Strong TCP/IP, subnetting, VLAN, routing, switching, NAT, VPN, LAN, and WAN knowledge.
Strong experience with enterprise firewalls and network security.
Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or similar virtualization platforms.
Experience with physical servers, chassis, RAID, firmware, and hardware troubleshooting.
Experience with SAN, NAS, and enterprise storage.
Experience with backup, recovery, disaster recovery, monitoring, and alerting.
Strong infrastructure security and system-hardening knowledge.
Excellent troubleshooting and root-cause-analysis skills.
Ability to independently research and resolve unfamiliar technical problems.
Ability to work effectively with clients, vendors, internal teams, and other stakeholders.

Relevant Microsoft, Cisco, VMware, CompTIA, Linux, or cloud certifications are beneficial; however, demonstrated hands-on experience is more important than certifications alone.

This position may support environments subject to government, regulated-industry, contractual, or client security requirements.
U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check.
Candidates must be able to successfully complete applicable Enqbator and/or client security screening, access, and clearance requirements.
Continued assignment to certain environments may depend on maintaining required security eligibility and compliance.
