Forward Deployed Engineer

ForgeSight builds on Palantir Foundry for organizations whose data problems are measured in decades, not sprints. We are a Palantir partner serving enterprise clients across the United States and Canada. We do one thing: turn Foundry into operational systems a business can run on, data integration and engineering, custom applications, AI and AIP enablement, and the architecture and advisory work that holds it all together.
Our clients are large. Most arrive with years of Foundry investment already in place, a data estate that took a generation to build, and a long list of things that have to keep working while it changes. Understanding what is already there is a discipline, and it is where most of our engagements begin. That is the work we like.
At ForgeSight, Forward Deployed Engineering is a way of working we have built the company around. Forward Deployed Engineers embed with a client, sometimes for weeks, often for years, take ownership of a problem that matters to the business, and see it through from the first conversation with an executive to the day the solution is running without them. You work in small teams, close to the people who use what you build, with more autonomy than most senior roles offer and more accountability than most people are used to.
What you'll do
Own client problems end to end. Translate operational needs into technical plans, make trade-offs visible, and stay accountable from the first conversation through production adoption.
Design and build Foundry solutions. Develop data pipelines, ontologies, applications, dashboards, workflows, models, agents, APIs and reusable components based on the problem at hand.
Integrate complex enterprise estates. Connect Foundry to databases, files, streams, lakehouses, cloud platforms and systems of record such as ERP, CRM, planning, manufacturing and financial systems.
Create trusted data foundations. Build data models, transformations, quality controls, lineage, reconciliation, monitoring and governance that make data consistent, explainable and usable.
Operationalize AI and analytics. Move beyond experiments by embedding models and AI capabilities into governed workflows with evaluation, monitoring, guardrails and appropriate human oversight.
Build software people use. Conduct user discovery, prototype quickly, test rigorously and iterate until the solution becomes a practical part of day-to-day work.
Apply production engineering discipline. Use version control, code review, automated testing, documentation, release management, security, performance and service-management practices throughout delivery.
Advise and enable client teams. Explain architecture and technical concepts clearly, recommend Foundry best practices, support knowledge transfer, and help clients operate and extend what has been built.
Improve the platform and the practice. Identify deployment issues, close gaps, create reusable patterns and contribute to ForgeSight guidance, training and continuous improvement.

What we require
Palantir experience. At least 2 years of hands-on experience working with Palantir Foundry and AIP, including the delivery of production solutions.
Strong technical foundation. Proficiency in Python and SQL, with the ability to work effectively across data engineering, analytics and application development needs.
Production delivery experience. A demonstrated record of designing, building, deploying and supporting software, data or AI solutions used in real operations.
Enterprise integration experience. Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP, and with the APIs, data platforms and systems of record common in large organizations.
Data and ontology fluency. Experience with data modelling, ontology design, data quality and governance in environments where consistency and trust matter.
Communication and client leadership. The ability to lead discovery, explain technical decisions to varied audiences, and collaborate with business and technical stakeholders.
Education or equivalent experience. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience delivering complex technical solutions.
Experience that strengthens your application
Candidates may bring deeper experience in one or more of the following areas. These are examples of valuable depth, not separate job tracks or a requirement to specialize in all of them:
Data engineering. Python, SQL, PySpark, Pipeline Builder, Databricks, Snowflake, lakehouse patterns, streaming, performance tuning, lineage and reconciliation.
Application development. TypeScript or JavaScript, React, Workshop, Slate, Ontology SDK, Functions, Actions, APIs and user-centred workflow design.
AI development. Palantir AIP, large language models, retrieval, agents, structured extraction, evaluation, monitoring, guardrails and cost or latency management.
AI and machine learning. Forecasting, classification, anomaly detection, optimization, feature engineering, model validation, deployment, drift monitoring and retraining.
Architecture and governance. Enterprise architecture, ontology strategy, reusable platform patterns, DevOps, security, service management and platform operating models.
Advanced education. A master's degree in a relevant technical or quantitative discipline.
How we work
One title, different scopes. Every engineer at ForgeSight is a Forward Deployed Engineer. Scope may include technical leadership, architecture, client relationships and mentoring, and expands with demonstrated trust and impact.
Small teams of experienced people. We favour compact teams that can make decisions, build quickly and remain close to the client problem.
Remote-first, in person when it counts. We work from home by default, gather when collaboration benefits from it and spend time on client sites when the engagement requires it.
Foundry, taught properly. ForgeSight operates a Palantir Foundry training practice. Team members continue developing their platform depth and contribute to the learning of others.
Outcomes over slide decks. Success is measured by working systems that are embedded in daily decisions and workflows.
