About the role
At Finnable, internal audit is more than finding problems. It also fixes them. This role combines assurance with transformation: you'll review processes to find risks, fraud, and regulatory gaps, then help redesign and automate those processes so the gaps don't come back. Expect roughly equal time on audit and on transformation projects.
Key responsibilities
Internal Audit (Assurance)
• Run process walkthroughs across the lending lifecycle (sourcing, KYC, underwriting, disbursement, collections) and build risk-control matrices.
• Test controls, gather evidence, and draft observations with root cause and risk rating.
• Test compliance with RBI requirements for NBFCs, such as KYC/AML, Digital Lending Guidelines, Fair Practices Code, and outsourcing norms.
• Use data analytics to find fraud red flags such as duplicate borrowers, shared contact or bank details, early defaults, and partner collusion patterns.
Transformation (Process Excellence & Automation)
• Map current processes, find manual steps, bottlenecks, and duplicated effort, and design the improved future-state process.
• Build automations and tools with Excel/Power Query, Python, or low-code tools, such as reconciliations, exception reports, and control checks.
• Turn one-time audit tests into continuous monitoring dashboards.
• Help business teams design built-in controls for new products, system changes, and process launches.
• Track benefits delivered, such as hours saved, errors reduced, and TAT improved.
The bridge between the two
• For every key audit finding, propose a practical fix, whether that's a system control, an automation, or a redesigned process, and follow it through to implementation.
• Keep a transformation backlog built from audit observations and ranked by risk and effort.
Eligibility
• CA Final student eligible for industrial training under current ICAI regulations
• Articleship exposure to internal audit, BFSI/NBFC audits, risk advisory, or process consulting is preferred
Skills required
• Must have: Advanced Excel, analytical and structured thinking, clear written communication
• Good to have: SQL, Python, Power BI/Tableau, process mapping (Visio/Lucidchart), RPA or low-code tools
• Domain knowledge: Basic understanding of lending operations and NBFC regulations
• Mindset: Sceptical like an auditor, practical like a builder, and comfortable working with business teams
