About Us:
Pixel Games Studios is the game development branch of Boundless Gamers, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charity in the gaming community. Our mission is to create games that not only entertain but also spread awareness of mental health and highlight the positive impact gaming can have. What began as a simple podcast has evolved into a larger effort to make a difference through meaningful game projects.

Material Artist (Unreal Engine & Substance Designer)
This is a volunteer, remote role for a Material Artist at PIXEL GAMES STUDIO. This specialist will be responsible for creating high-quality, PBR materials, tileable textures, and master shader graphs to help define the visual identity of our environments. Working closely with our environment and technical art teams, the candidate will author material sets in Substance Designer and translate them seamlessly into Unreal Engine to ensure both artistic quality and optimized performance. The project we are working on will be using Unreal Engine 5.7
Qualifications:
Proven experience with PBR materials and tileable textures in Substance Designer.
Strong understanding of Unreal Engine's Material Editor, including setting up Master Materials, Material Instances, and Material Functions.
A portfolio showcasing material breakdowns, heightmap detail, and realistic or stylized surface texturing.
Solid understanding of PBR workflows, texture packing, resolution management, and runtime shader optimization.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.
Excellent communication and time management skills.
At least 3 to 5 years of experience in 3D art, texturing, or material creation.
Experience with Substance Painter, Blender, or custom shader logic (e.g., vertex painting, RVT setups) is a plus.
