2. About the Opportunity:
The Senior Software Engineer, SQL Engines role focuses on developing the SQL interface that allows users to query, analyze, and visualize document database data using SQL. This position contributes to building and optimizing tools that integrate MongoDB''s document data model with SQL-based workflows, thereby expanding the accessibility and functionality of the platform for developers and analysts.
3. Responsibilities:
Design, build, and optimize tools enhancing SQL experience with the document database
Collaborate with product and customer experience teams to evaluate user needs and develop intuitive features
Monitor and improve performance, scalability, and reliability of the SQL interface
Stay informed on database and cloud industry trends and introduce innovative ideas
Advocate for technical excellence balancing feature delivery with system quality
4. Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of professional software engineering experience focused on backend systems and database technologies
Proficiency in at least one compiled programming language; interest in Rust, Java, or Go
Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design/architecture
Interest or experience in database query engines; advanced degrees in the field preferred
Familiarity with SQL query execution, optimization, and relational databases
Knowledge of MongoDB or non-relational databases is advantageous
Effective problem-solving and communication skills enabling collaboration and technical advocacy
Passion for empowering users to analyze data and integrate SQL-based workflows
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
