Nurse Manager

Business Unit: Metlakatla First Nation
Location: Metlakatla, BC and Prince Rupert, BC - Onsite
Reporting to: Executive Director
Position Summary
This is a hands-on role, grounded in the community every day. As Nurse Manager, you will provide direct nursing support to Metlakatla members, including client care, follow-up, and assistance with urgent or emerging health needs, while supporting community clinics, outreach, and health promotion alongside your team. You will also guide the day-to-day practice of nursing staff through training, mentoring, and scheduling, and carry the operational side of the work: building the annual workplan with the Health Director, preparing and monitoring budgets with the Finance team, and planning, developing, and evaluating health programs that respond to community priorities. You will connect with health authorities, physicians, and community partners, and bring forward recommendations to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities:
Provide hands-on nursing support in the community as required, including direct client support, follow-up care, and assistance with urgent or emerging health needs
Supervise nursing and health program staff, including training, mentoring, monitoring, providing ongoing feedback on performance, and providing input to hiring, professional development needs, performance reviews, and time and attendance timesheets
Coordinate the day-to-day activities of the nursing team, including staff scheduling, community clinic support, outreach services, health promotion activities, and continuity of care for clients
Oversee the delivery, coordination, and administration of community nursing services and related health programs for Metlakatla members
Support the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of health programs, services, and initiatives that respond to community priorities
Provide reports and recommendations to the Executive Director for consideration by Metlakatla leadership around health service changes, health priorities, and program initiatives
Create an annual workplan for nursing services and health programming with the Health Director
What You Bring:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing or equivalent nursing education required
Current registration and good standing with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives required
Minimum of three years in a supervisory or nursing leadership role
Minimum of three to five years working in community health, public health, primary care, or a related nursing environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills to manage and direct employees
Experience working in and with an Indigenous community is preferred
Other:
Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check with a satisfactory result
Follow Metlakatla First Nations policies and procedures
Class 5 Drivers’ License and clean Driver’s Abstract
Some travel is required

Wage range: $102,611 - $115,000 annually ($56.38-$63.40 per hour) – this is a salaried position
Hours of work: 35 hours per week
Schedule: Monday to Thursday from 8:30 am-5:00 pm, and Friday from 8:30 am-1:00 pm
