Build the Future of Digital Worlds
Soundscape is redefining what immersive entertainment can become.
We’re creating a next-generation platform where music, art, technology, and real-time 3D experiences converge. Our team collaborates with world-renowned musicians, visual artists, and Unreal Engine experts to create living digital environments experienced across PC, console, mobile, and virtual reality.
We are seeking an exceptional Senior Materials Designer to help define the visual identity of the next generation of Soundscape.
This is not a traditional material artist position. We are looking for a world-class creator capable of designing scalable material ecosystems, procedural workflows, advanced shaders, and next-generation surface libraries that push Unreal Engine to its limits while remaining performant across multiple platforms.
If you obsess over physically-based rendering, procedural authoring, photorealistic surfaces, stylized visual languages, and technical innovation, we’d love to speak with you.
What You’ll Do
* Design and develop world-class material libraries for use across the Soundscape ecosystem.
* Create highly optimized master materials and shader systems within Unreal Engine.
* Build scalable procedural material workflows using Substance Designer and related tools.
* Partner closely with Environment Artists, Technical Artists, Engineers, and Creative Directors to establish the visual language of future experiences.
* Develop material standards, documentation, and workflows that improve content production across the entire studio.
* Optimize materials and shaders for deployment across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, mobile, and VR platforms.
* Research and implement emerging rendering technologies and Unreal Engine features.
* Contribute to the evolution of Soundscape’s visual identity through experimentation and innovation.
* Help mentor and elevate other artists through feedback, collaboration, and technical leadership.
What We’re Looking For
Required
* 7+ years of professional experience in AAA games, virtual production, film, visualization, or related industries.

* Advanced experience with Substance Designer.
* Deep understanding of:
* Physically Based Rendering (PBR)
* Material layering
* Shader development
* Surface response
* Lighting interaction
* Texture optimization
* Strong portfolio demonstrating both artistic excellence and technical sophistication.
* Experience building reusable material frameworks rather than one-off assets.
* Strong understanding of performance profiling and optimization.
* Exceptional eye for color, composition, scale, wear patterns, and environmental storytelling.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
Ideal Experience
We’re especially interested in candidates who have experience with:
* AAA console development
* Unreal Engine 5
* Lumen
* Nanite
* Virtual Shadow Maps
* Material Functions
* Material Layering Systems
* HLSL
* Procedural generation workflows
* Houdini
* Blender
* Quixel ecosystem
* Megascans integration
* Photogrammetry pipelines
* Technical Art leadership
* Environment Art leadership
Bonus Points
You may be exactly who we’re looking for if you’ve:
* Built material libraries used across an entire game or platform.
* Developed proprietary material workflows or tools.
* Spoken at industry conferences such as GDC, Unreal Fest, SIGGRAPH, or Substance Days.
* Contributed to the visual development of a major AAA title.
* Worked closely with rendering engineers to push visual quality beyond conventional workflows.
* Shipped content across multiple hardware platforms.
What Success Looks Like
Six months into this role, you will have:
* Established the material standards for the future of Soundscape.
* Built scalable systems that allow artists to create content faster and more consistently.
* Improved visual quality while maintaining performance targets.
* Helped define a unique visual identity that distinguishes Soundscape from anything else in the immersive entertainment industry.
Twelve months into this role, your work will be visible across every world, concert experience, and interactive environment we create.
Why Soundscape
Soundscape sits at the intersection of technology, music, gaming, and digital art.
Our team includes industry veterans, Unreal Engine experts, musicians, and creators working together to build something entirely new.
We offer:
* Competitive salary
* Comprehensive benefits package
* Fully remote work environment
* Flexible schedules
* Small, highly collaborative team
* Direct access to leadership
* Opportunities to influence the future direction of the platform
* The chance to work with legendary musicians and groundbreaking digital artists
