Forward Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and entrepreneurial Forward Engineer to lead the execution of our firm's AI strategy on a part-time basis.
This individual will serve as the firm's primary resource for identifying, implementing, and managing AI and automation initiatives that improve efficiency, reduce manual work, and allow our teams to focus on higher-value activities. The role will work closely with leadership and department heads, particularly within Financial Planning, Wealth Management, Operations, Compliance, Client Service, and Business Development.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who can quickly assess workflows, implement practical AI solutions, and drive measurable productivity gains throughout the organization.
Key Responsibilities
AI Strategy & Leadership
Serve as the firm's lead AI and automation resource.
Develop and execute a practical AI roadmap aligned with business objectives.
Evaluate emerging AI technologies and identify high-impact applications.
Recommend and implement AI solutions that improve employee productivity and client service.
Establish AI governance and best practices.
Process Automation
Identify repetitive, manual, and inefficient workflows across departments.
Design and implement automation solutions that reduce administrative burden and improve scalability.
Build workflows leveraging AI, automation tools, APIs, and low-code platforms.
Create automated reporting, notifications, and operational processes.
Continuously evaluate and improve existing workflows.
Financial Planning & Advisor Support
Partner closely with the Financial Planning team to automate planning-related tasks.
Streamline data gathering, plan preparation, meeting follow-up, and document workflows.
Identify opportunities to leverage AI in tax planning, estate planning, retirement planning, and client onboarding.
Support advisors with tools that improve consistency, efficiency, and client experience.
Technology & Integration
Integrate AI tools across existing technology platforms.
Collaborate with vendors and technology partners.
Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance standards are maintained.
Create scalable solutions that can be adopted across the organization.
Training & Change Management
Train employees on AI tools and automation best practices.
Develop internal documentation and standard operating procedures.
Serve as an internal consultant for department leaders seeking efficiency improvements.
Drive adoption and ensure measurable usage of implemented solutions.
Qualifications
Required
5+ years of experience in AI, automation, digital transformation, operations, systems implementation, or process improvement.
Demonstrated experience implementing AI solutions in a business environment.
Strong understanding of modern AI platforms, large language models, and workflow automation tools.
Experience creating system integrations and automating business processes.
Excellent communication and project management skills.
Ability to work independently and prioritize high-impact initiatives.
Preferred
Experience within wealth management, financial planning, financial services, or fintech.
Familiarity with CRM systems and financial planning platforms.
Basic programming or scripting experience (Python, SQL, APIs)
Compensation:
Starting at $65 an hour, or monthly retainer based on experience.
