Position Overview
As an Accountant / Financial Analyst at Edge, you will work directly with a U.S.-based entrepreneur managing multiple business entities, including a newly launched subscription-based software company.
This is not a traditional bookkeeping role. We're looking for someone who can build an accounting function from the ground up, clean up years of disorganized financial records, and provide proactive financial analysis and guidance to the business owner.
The ideal candidate will be able to quickly establish clean books, manage multiple entities, build reliable financial reporting, develop forecasts, and turn financial data into actionable insights that support business decisions.
Employment Type: Full-Time, Fully Remote
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM–6:00 PM PST
Key Responsibilities
Build & Clean Up Accounting Operations
Build the accounting foundation from zero for a newly launched subscription-based software company.
Set up and maintain QuickBooks, including chart of accounts, books, workflows, and reporting structures.
Clean up years of messy and inconsistent bookkeeping across approximately 10 legacy business entities.
Manage accounting across multiple LLCs/corporations and business structures.
Support the wind-down of inactive entities, including coordination of final tax returns and formal closure requirements.
Maintain accurate books for active entities, including property- and note-holding entities.
SaaS & Full-Cycle Accounting
Manage accounting for a subscription-based SaaS business, including recurring revenue, deferred revenue, and ARR tracking.
Own end-to-end month-end and year-end close processes.
Prepare and review P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements.
Manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
Perform bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
Maintain the general ledger and prepare complex journal entries and accounting estimates.
Ensure books are accurate, current, and audit/tax-ready.
Financial Analysis & Strategic Advisory
Act as a proactive financial advisor to the business owner, not simply a transactional accountant.
Analyze proposed business decisions and identify potential financial, accounting, tax, and cash-flow implications.
Develop financial forecasts, projections, and models to support business growth.
Monitor cash flow, revenue, expenses, and overall financial performance.
Conduct variance analysis and provide clear financial insights and recommendations.
Build financial dashboards and reporting that provide the owner with real-time visibility into the business.
Proactively identify financial risks, inconsistencies, and opportunities before they impact the business.
Tax, Audit & Reporting
Coordinate with external tax advisors and other financial professionals when required.
Prepare supporting documentation for tax and audit requirements.
Ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and properly documented.
Develop and maintain appropriate accounting processes and controls.
Tools & Systems
QuickBooks / QuickBooks Online
Microsoft Excel — Advanced
Google Sheets — Advanced
Financial reporting and analysis tools
Accounting and audit support tools
Key Technical Requirements
US GAAP proficiency — Non-negotiable
Strong understanding of accrual accounting and general ledger management.
Proven experience with multi-entity accounting.
Strong experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.
Experience preparing and analyzing financial statements.
Strong knowledge of bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
Experience with financial forecasting and FP&A.
Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills.
Experience with SaaS/subscription revenue accounting is highly preferred.
Experience with real estate/property accounting is a plus.
Experience coordinating with external tax advisors and supporting tax compliance.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a reputable university.
ACCA or CA finalist required.
2–4 years of relevant professional accounting experience.
Experience working with U.S. accounting / US GAAP.
Demonstrated experience owning month-end financial reporting and close processes.
Experience handling multiple entities or complex accounting structures.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and take full ownership of responsibilities.
Comfortable communicating financial information and recommendations to a non-finance business owner.
