We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly efficient, and talented Promotional Graphic Designer to join our fast-paced digital newsroom. In this role, you will play a key part in defining and maintaining our visual identity across streaming shows, marketing campaigns, and digital platforms.
You will create daily and weekly show graphics on tight deadlines, build reusable branded templates, coordinate directly with team members to verify and distribute show assets, and produce compelling promotional graphics for subscriptions, merch, and fundraising. If you thrive in a rapid-fire news environment, seamlessly adapt to last-minute breaking updates, and excel at translating creative concepts into quick-turnaround deliverables, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
Streaming Show Graphics & Production:
Utilize existing show templates to produce daily and weekly promotional assets by rapidly updating episode details (time, date, guest photos/names, episode titles).
Deliver final graphics quickly in JPG format across three core sizes (e.g., Landscape/16:9, Square/1:1, Vertical/9:16) for multi-channel social distribution.
Asset Coordination & Team Distribution:
Coordinate directly with producers, bookers, and editorial staff to request, verify, and confirm guest headshots, show assets, and promotional materials.
Organize, upload, and distribute completed assets and graphics across the team for seamless scheduling and publication.
Template & Brand Asset Creation:
Design fresh, high-converting, branded templates for digital advertisements, social promos, subscription drives, and ongoing marketing initiatives.
Ensure consistent visual brand standards across all digital touchpoints.
Promotional & Marketing Design:
Create eye-catching promotional graphics to support merchandise launches, subscription sales, reader/viewer support campaigns, and fundraising drives.
Fast-Paced Newsroom Collaboration:
Thrive under tight daily deadlines, handling last-minute schedule changes, guest swaps, or breaking news updates with composure and accuracy.
Communicate actively with production and marketing teams via internal messaging and project management tools.
Requirements & Qualifications
Design Experience: Proven professional graphic design experience (Mid-to-Senior Level), preferably within digital media, news, broadcast, or digital agency environments.
Speed & Agility: Demonstrated ability to turn around high-quality graphics quickly in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing attention to detail.
Technical & Software Proficiency:
Expert command of design software, including Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Canva.
Hands-on experience with project management and file-sharing tools like Asana (or similar platforms like Trello/ClickUp), Slack, and Google Drive.
Mastery of template-based workflows, file management, typography, color theory, and digital layout optimization.
Adaptability & Organization: Exceptional flexibility, organizational skills, and problem-solving ability when navigating last-minute content changes and tight news cycles.
Portfolio Required: A strong portfolio demonstrating daily digital asset production, social graphics, promotional/ad design, and template creation.
Preferred Skills & Bonus Qualifications
Political / News Awareness: A strong interest in or familiarity with current affairs, news, and politics is a major plus (though not required).
Video Editing / Motion Graphics: Basic to intermediate video editing or light motion graphics skills (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects) to create quick promotional video clips or animated show bumpers is a plus.
Enthusiastic & Collaborative Attitude: Passion for independent journalism, clear team communication, and digital storytelling.
