About the Opportunity
The Director of Information Technology is responsible for the tactical execution of the strategic technology roadmap defined by the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). This role translates strategy into operational reality, directing multidisciplinary teams across security, cloud infrastructure, SaaS business applications, Microsoft 365 application management, and IT operations to deliver reliable, secure, and scalable technology services across the organization's family of affiliated entities.
Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the Director owns day-to-day operational direction, establishes operational standards, and ensures stability, security, and service quality across the technology environment. While the role requires the technical depth to direct teams operating on the Microsoft platform, hands-on technical execution is delegated to team engineers and administrators. This position also serves as a leadership development track toward broader executive technology responsibility over time, which may expand to encompass additional technical functions based on performance, organizational needs, and business conditions.
This is a full-time, remote position based in the United States, requiring up to 5% travel across the country for meetings, conferences, and related business activities.
Key Responsibilities
Direct day-to-day IT operations, including end-user support, hardware and software procurement, and employee onboarding and offboarding.
Oversee security and cloud infrastructure across hybrid on-premises and Azure cloud environments (PaaS and IaaS), maintaining performance, cost optimization, and alignment with SOC 2 and applicable compliance standards.
Supervise the administration, governance, adoption, and security of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem and hosted third-party SaaS business applications.
Establish, maintain, and regularly test business continuity and disaster recovery plans, including backup, failover, and recovery procedures.
Execute the technology roadmap and strategic priorities set by the CTO, translating strategy into actionable plans, timelines, and measurable outcomes.
Drive IT Service Management (ITSM) maturity by implementing ITIL-aligned processes for incident, problem, change, request, and asset and configuration management, including operational KPIs and service-level metrics.
Recruit, develop, and mentor multidisciplinary IT teams to support rapid organizational headcount growth, defining roles, structure, accountabilities, and career pathways.
Partner with the Director of Software Engineering to align on development operations infrastructure and platforms, maintaining familiarity with Azure DevOps, SQL Server, and IIS.
Collaborate with tech talent and people operations leadership on IT staffing plans, hiring pipelines, career frameworks, and role leveling.
Serve as a strategic partner to leadership across the organization, collaborating with peer directors on shared infrastructure, security, and service delivery needs.
Manage vendor and technology partner relationships, including contract negotiations, renewals, and ongoing performance oversight.
Contribute to IT budget forecasting and planning alongside the CTO, including cost modeling for infrastructure, software licensing, and third-party vendors.
Deliver executive-level reporting on IT initiatives, roadmap milestones, service performance, risks, and resource requirements to the CTO and executive stakeholders.
Execute assigned tasks and deliverables on time and on budget, and perform other related duties as assigned.
