Youtube Editor

We are seeking a creative, energetic YouTube Video & Shorts Editor to bring Out of Ink Media’s comedy content to life!
Our ideal editor should be comfortable working with both long-form and short-form content and understand how editing style, pacing, and storytelling differ between the two formats.
Content You’ll Edit:
Long-Form YouTube Videos: 1920×1080 (16:9), typically 10–40 minutes in final length.
YouTube Shorts: 1080×1920 (9:16), typically 15 seconds–2 minutes in final length.
Our editing style is inspired by comedy channels, with an emphasis on comedic timing, engaging pacing, punch-ins, visual gags, graphics, sound effects, music, and edits that enhance our hosts' personalities and chemistry.
You’ll work alongside our current editor and rotate between long-form and short-form assignments. While we want our editors to be able to edit both formats, you will not be responsible for editing both the long-form video and its Shorts for the same project. For each project, one editor will handle the long-form content while the other handles the short-form content, with responsibilities rotating between projects.
Because Out of Ink Media is still a growing independent channel, this is currently an unpaid position.
We’re looking for someone who wants to build their portfolio, gain hands-on editing experience, contribute creatively, and potentially grow alongside the channel.
As the channel grows and develops consistent revenue, our goal is to transition long-term contributors into paid positions when financially possible. Future compensation is not guaranteed and will depend on the channel's growth and financial sustainability.
Responsibilities
Create engaging pacing through cuts, punch-ins, zooms, reaction shots, and other comedic editing techniques.
Add sound effects, music, graphics, text, captions, images, memes, and other visual elements when appropriate.
Identify and emphasize the funniest or most entertaining moments from recordings.
Repurpose moments from long-form recordings into engaging, standalone Shorts when assigned to short-form editing.
Organize project files, footage, graphics, music, and other media so the team can easily access them.
Follow established Out of Ink editing conventions while also bringing your own creative ideas and comedic instincts to projects.
Communicate with the team about editing decisions, questions, deadlines, and potential creative ideas.
Receive and implement revision notes and feedback before finalizing videos.
Export completed videos using the appropriate specifications for YouTube and YouTube Shorts.
Meet agreed-upon deadlines and communicate in advance if you need additional time.
Qualifications
Proficiency with professional video editing software.
Ability to edit both long-form YouTube content (16:9) and vertical short-form content (9:16).
Strong understanding of comedic timing, pacing, and visual storytelling.
Ability to dedicate 4 -8 hours a week per project.
Comfortable receiving constructive feedback and revision notes.
Ability to work independently while collaborating creatively with a small team.
Access to a computer capable of handling video editing and a reliable internet connection for transferring project files.
