Role Description The Shorts Editor is a full-time, on-site role based in the Los Angeles Metropolitan Area, responsible for editing short-form video content for platforms such as YouTube Shorts, TikTok, Instagram Reels, and other social channels. Day-to-day tasks include selecting and trimming clips, arranging footage for maximum impact, adding text overlays, transitions, sound effects, and music, and ensuring that each piece aligns with brand guidelines and platform best practices. The role involves close collaboration with producers, creators, and other team members to interpret creative briefs, refine story arcs, and deliver high-quality edits on schedule. The Shorts Editor will organize and manage media assets, maintain consistent file naming and project structures, and optimize videos for aspect ratios, resolution, and platform-specific requirements. They will also review performance data, incorporate feedback, and continuously refine editing approaches to improve audience engagement and retention.
Qualifications
Strong video editing skills using industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve) and experience with short-form, vertical video formats.
Knowledge of digital content production workflows, including basic motion graphics, sound design, and color correction for social media platforms.
Understanding of social media trends, audience behavior, and platform-specific best practices for YouTube Shorts, TikTok, and Instagram Reels.
Ability to interpret creative briefs, collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, and incorporate feedback while maintaining creative quality.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and capacity to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Comfort with asset management, file organization, and maintaining a consistent project structure within shared storage systems.
Excellent communication skills and a proactive, problem-solving mindset; openness to learning new tools and techniques.
Relevant experience in video editing or digital media; a portfolio or reel showcasing short-form content is highly beneficial. A degree in film, media, communications, or a related field is a plus but not required.
