Dynatrace Engineer

We are seeking a senior-level Dynatrace Observability Engineer to serve as a key technical resource responsible for the administration, optimization, and ongoing evolution of our observability platform. This individual will combine deep Dynatrace expertise with strong cloud and infrastructure knowledge to support both platform engineering initiatives and day-to-day operational monitoring across enterprise environments.
The ideal candidate will act as the organization's Dynatrace Subject Matter Expert, partnering with engineering, operations, and application teams to ensure reliable monitoring, actionable alerting, comprehensive observability, and effective troubleshooting across cloud and hybrid environments.
Key Responsibilities
Administer, maintain, and optimize the Dynatrace platform, including alerting, anomaly detection, management zones, tagging strategies, dashboards, and data governance.
Serve as the primary Dynatrace SME, providing guidance, troubleshooting support, and best practices to engineering and operations teams.
Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and DQL queries that provide actionable visibility into application, infrastructure, and operational performance.
Design and implement monitoring solutions across Azure-based environments, ensuring comprehensive coverage and accurate telemetry.
Deploy, configure, and support Dynatrace OneAgent across:Azure Windows Virtual Machines
Azure Linux Virtual Machines
Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
Azure Function Apps utilizing OneAgent Extension-based deployments
Design, implement, and maintain ActiveGate infrastructure supporting:OneAgent traffic routing
Synthetic Monitoring private locations
ActiveGate-based extension execution
Configure, manage, and troubleshoot OneAgent and ActiveGate extensions.
Implement and support OpenTelemetry (OTEL) instrumentation strategies for Azure Function Apps and other custom or cloud-native workloads.
Analyze monitoring gaps, improve observability coverage, and continuously enhance platform effectiveness.
Collaborate with application, platform, and infrastructure teams to define monitoring standards and observability best practices.
Required Qualifications
Hands-on experience administering and supporting Dynatrace in enterprise environments.
Strong expertise with Dynatrace platform configuration, including dashboards, alerting, anomaly detection, tagging, management zones, and platform administration.
Experience deploying, managing, and troubleshooting ActiveGate infrastructure.
Strong proficiency with Dynatrace Query Language (DQL).
Experience implementing and supporting OneAgent deployments across Windows, Linux, Kubernetes, and cloud environments.
Strong experience working within Microsoft Azure ecosystems.
Experience supporting Kubernetes environments, preferably Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
Knowledge of both Windows and Linux operating systems.
Hands-on experience implementing and supporting OpenTelemetry (OTEL) instrumentation and telemetry collection.
Preferred Qualifications
Dynatrace Professional Certification.
Microsoft Azure certifications.
Kubernetes certifications (CKA, CKAD, or equivalent).
Experience with synthetic monitoring, distributed tracing, and enterprise observability programs.
Background in SRE, Platform Engineering, DevOps, or Cloud Operations environments.
