Key Responsibilities of a Quantity Surveyor:
Conducting feasibility studies to estimate materials, time and labour costs.
Preparing, negotiating, and analysing costs for tenders and contracts.
Coordination of work effort.
Advising on a range of legal and contractual issues.
Valuing completed work and arranging for payments.

Common Tasks and Duties:
Preparation of contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect/interior designer and/or the client.
Undertaking cost analysis for repair and maintenance project work.
Assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies.
Performing risk, value management, and cost control during project/construction.
Providing advice on contractual claims and disputes.
Tracking changes to the design and/or construction work, and adjusting budget projections accordingly.
Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
