FBS Agile Dev Team Member III - Guidewire PolicyCenter

Job Summary
This position collaborates with business stakeholders, solution engineers, product owners, and Agile teams to develop, test, and deploy Guidewire PolicyCenter configuration and integration solutions for insurance initiatives. The role applies solid hands-on knowledge of PolicyCenter configuration, Gosu development, APIs, messaging, batch processing, and cloud delivery practices. It delivers maintainable, secure, production-ready functionality each sprint with support and limited guidance from senior developers, solution engineers, or architects.
Essential Job Functions
Codes and configures programs, objects, components, and packaged software to deliver required business functionality
Provides technical input into solution design and application functionality, aligning implementation with business needs, coding standards, architectural direction, and Guidewire best practices
Reviews and validates code, configuration, and supporting documentation produced by team members
Develops maintainable application components with attention to quality, performance, security, reliability, restart and recovery, balancing, controls, and efficient resource utilization
Performs broad and detailed impact assessments across people, processes, data, applications, and integrations before implementing changes
Analyzes data conversion and data modeling requirements and documents recommended implementation approaches
Performs quality checks on code, configuration, related components, test evidence, and documentation; delivers working code incrementally each sprint
Executes Test-Driven Development and Behavior-Driven Development practices where appropriate to build quality into the solution
Supports implementation and release activities, troubleshoots environment and production issues, assists with root cause analysis, and implements corrective actions
Uses development automation, test automation results, CI/CD pipelines, source control, and deployment tools to improve delivery quality and efficiency
Provides limited technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and mentoring to junior team members when needed
Guidewire Technical Requirements
Minimum 5 years of experience in software development, solution engineering, or a related technology field
Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience with Guidewire products, preferably PolicyCenter, including configuration and integration development
Experience configuring PolicyCenter product model, business rules, workflows, user interface components, data model extensions, and validation logic using Gosu and Guidewire standards
Experience in developing page configuration files, business rules, data model extensions, and unit tests such as GUnit tests
Experience in integrating PolicyCenter with portals and enterprise systems using REST services, Guidewire APIs, messaging, events, message queues, plugins, and batch processes
Working knowledge of Guidewire Cloud or SaaS delivery practices is preferred, including automated build, test, deployment, and environment support
Advanced Product Designer experience is preferred; Jutro Digital Platform exposure is a plus
Property and casualty insurance knowledge, including products, coverages, underwriting processes, and integration touchpoints
Agile Delivery and Collaboration
Writes and refines user stories with clear technical tasks and accurate acceptance criteria; estimates work using relative sizing and identifies functional design risks
Partners with the Product Owner to confirm that implementation and acceptance tests reflect the intended functionality
Participates in PI Planning, Sprint Planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, system demos, retrospectives, and Inspect and Adapt activities
Commits to team PI objectives and sprint goals, communicates progress and impediments, and takes ownership of assigned deliverables
Practices continuous exploration, continuous integration, and continuous deployment to support the Continuous Delivery Pipeline and DevOps
Demonstrates working functionality to Product and Business Owners and supports iteration and PI System Demos
Shares knowledge and best practices, contributes to Communities of Practice, and supports continuous improvement and development of T-shaped skills
Conducts research, design, prototyping, and exploration activities that foster innovation and align delivered solutions with customer needs

Working knowledge of software design principles, object-oriented programming, declarative concepts, defensive coding, error handling, version control, database concepts, SQL, and CI/CD
Working-level understanding of applications within the assigned domain and connected or integrated systems
Broad knowledge of insurance concepts, terminology, products, and business processes across relevant business areas
Ability to train and mentor others in areas of expertise and provide constructive technical guidance
Education and Certification Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field preferred
SAFe Practitioner or SAFe Agilist certification within 180 days of hire required
Guidewire Configuration or Integration certification
