Piping Stress Engineer

Job Purpose:
To provide Piping Stress Engineering services / support to Turnaround (TA) and Project engineering activities at the Stanlow Manufacturing Complex.
Provide Engineering support to a small / large portfolio of Capital Works Projects & Turnarounds.
Principal Accountabilities:
Perform piping flexibility and stress analysis using software such as CAESAR II
Evaluate piping systems for thermal expansion, sustained loads, occasional loads, vibration, and fatigue.
Prepare stress analysis reports, calculations, and technical documentation.
Review piping layouts, support locations, and equipment nozzle loads.
Design and specify piping supports, spring hangers, restraints, and expansion joints.
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards such as:
ASME B31.1
ASME B31.3
ASME Section VIII
API Standards
Coordinate with piping, structural, civil, mechanical, and process engineering teams.
Review vendor data and validate equipment allowable loads.
Participate in design reviews, HAZOP studies, and project meetings.
Support site activities, troubleshooting, and field modifications when required.
Compliance - Ensure that piping items designed with relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASME, API, ASTM).
Piping Class Management - Add/Modify required piping items as per project requirements, Special piping item preparation.
Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
8 to 12 years of experience in piping stress analysis and design (depending on position level).
Proficiency in CAESAR II.
Good understanding of piping materials, supports, and engineering fundamentals.
Knowledge of international design codes and standards.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good communication and teamwork abilities.
Familiarity with industry codes and standards
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
