Role Summary
The Platform Engineer is responsible for designing, building, automating, and maintaining cloud infrastructure platforms that enable secure, scalable, and reliable application deployment. The role leverages Infrastructure as Code (IaC), Azure Bicep, DevOps tooling, and automation to deliver self-service cloud capabilities, standardised environments, and modern engineering practices across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure platforms on Microsoft Azure.
Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Azure Bicep, Terraform, and ARM templates.
Create reusable infrastructure modules, templates, and deployment patterns to support engineering teams.
Design and manage CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
Automate infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment processes.
Implement platform security controls, governance policies, and compliance requirements through code.
Develop cloud landing zones and platform services that support enterprise workloads.
Collaborate with architects, software engineers, and security teams to deliver cloud-native solutions.
Monitor platform performance, reliability, availability, and cost optimisation.
Support containerisation and orchestration technologies including Kubernetes and Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
Troubleshoot infrastructure, networking, deployment, and automation issues.
Drive platform engineering best practices, documentation, and knowledge sharing.

Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, or similar languages.
Understanding of cloud security principles and governance frameworks.
Experience supporting enterprise-scale cloud platforms.
