Associate Project Engineer

NOTE: This position will involve paid relocation to Vienna, Austria. It is not remote.

Organizational Setting
The Associate Project Engineer will work in the Technology Engineering and Foresight Team, Division of Technical and Scientific Services, Department of Safeguards (SGTS).
SGTS is responsible for responsible for procurement, testing, provision, inventory control, performance monitoring and maintenance of safeguards equipment and supplies required by Operations Divisions. It is also responsible for: management of equipment development and engineering activities to meet quality and safeguards requirements; development and provision of documentation, procedures, instrumentation methods and techniques; provision of specialized technical and scientific support to inspectors and inspection activities in the field and at headquarters; and, radiation contamination monitoring of returned equipment and timely write-off of obsolete or contaminated equipment.
The Associate Project Engineer will provide support for the timely execution of divisional projects assigned to the team, in particular requirement verification, validation, integration and testing in close collaboration with colleagues.
Functions / Key Results Expected
Plan and coordinate technical activities on assigned projects in collaboration with team members.
Act as a substantive contributor int he drafting and editing of technical documentation (e.g. test procedures, user reference manuals) related to specific projects.
Maintain detailed records of all work performed.
Ensure effective communication and coordination as assigned projects.
Required Qualifications and Experience
University degree in a technical discipline, preferably engineering or physics.
Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in the area of development, testing, and/or implementation of radiation detection or monitoring, video surveillance, or sealing.
Knowledge supported by education and/or professional experience in the development, design, production or use of instrumentation, preferably in radiation detection.
Preferred Qualifications
Development of software applications using modern programming languages (e.g. Python, C++).
Experience in system integration
Experience in developing, refining, and revising specifications and test procedures for equipment.
