Associate Data Evaluation Officer

NOTE: This position will involve paid relocation to Vienna, Austria. It is not remote.

Organizational Setting
The Associate Data Evaluation Officer will work in the Nuclear Fuel Cycle Analysist Section, Division of Information Management, Department of Safeguards (SGIM).
SGIM implements state of the art methodologies and techniques for the collection, processing and analysis of a range of safeguards-relevant information, including declarations submitted by States, evaluations resulting from the analysis of samples or measurements collected during infield activities, and information from open sources, including nuclear trade-related data and satellite imagery. Staff perform data validation and complex information analysis and evaluation to support infield activities and provide key input to the State evaluation process.
The Associate Data Evaluation Officer will contribute to the design and development of methodologies by analyzing, researching, monitoring and reporting on relevant safeguards data and methodologies, including sampling methodologies. The selected candidate will collaborate with colleagues within the Section and staff in other Sections and Divisions in order to resolve inconsistencies in data, ensure adequate follow-up, clarify methodological and procedural aspects and, if necessary, deliver presentations.
Functions / Key Results Expected
Contribute to the development and testing of methodologies for evaluating safeguards data, for example, environmental samples, sampling procedures, verification schemes, and the evaluation thereof in terms of quantifying detection probabilities and meeting technical objectives and verification goals.
Prepare documents and calculations supporting environmental sampling, uncertainty quantification, material balance and nuclear material flow evaluations.
Research and recommend analysis methodologies.
Draft presentations and documents for conferences and training courses..
Required Qualifications and Experience
University degree in mathematics, statistics, physics, chemistry, engineering or a related field.
Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience, with at least one year of experience in the statistical analysis of measurement data or environmental sample evaluations.
Demonstrated ability to prepare report abstracts and draft summary documents.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in statistical/mathematical software programming.
Experience of particle and bulk environmental sampling methodologies.
Experience in quantifying uncertainties of non-destructive assay and destructive assay verification measurements.
