About the Role
Vesper Energy is seeking an experienced Chief Investment Officer (CIO) to lead the company's investment strategy, capital allocation, transaction evaluation, and strategic investment initiatives.
As a member of the executive leadership team, the CIO will be responsible for evaluating investment opportunities across renewable energy, energy storage, power markets, and related infrastructure assets while maintaining disciplined investment and risk-management frameworks.
The ideal candidate combines deep investment expertise with strong commercial judgment and experience evaluating complex, capital-intensive opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute the company's investment strategy and capital allocation framework.
Identify and evaluate investment opportunities across renewable energy, energy storage, power, and infrastructure markets.
Lead financial modeling, valuation, due diligence, investment underwriting, and transaction analysis.
Evaluate project acquisitions, development investments, strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and other investment opportunities.
Develop investment theses based on project economics, market fundamentals, risk, and long-term strategic value.
Oversee investment committee materials and provide recommendations on major capital commitments.
Evaluate financing structures, expected returns, capital requirements, and investment risks.
Partner with finance, development, commercial, legal, operations, and executive leadership teams.
Build and maintain relationships with institutional investors, lenders, financial institutions, and strategic capital partners.
Support project financing, capital raising, and other strategic financing initiatives.
Establish portfolio monitoring, investment performance, and risk-management frameworks.
Monitor capital markets, power markets, macroeconomic conditions, and industry developments.
Present investment recommendations and portfolio reviews to executive leadership and relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications
12+ years of experience in investment management, infrastructure investing, private equity, project finance, investment banking, corporate development, or related fields.
Significant senior leadership experience involving investments, transactions, or capital allocation.
Strong expertise in financial modeling, valuation, investment underwriting, due diligence, and transaction structuring.
Demonstrated experience evaluating complex infrastructure or energy investments.
Strong understanding of renewable energy, power markets, energy storage, infrastructure, or project finance.
Experience working with institutional investors, lenders, capital providers, and strategic partners.
Strong understanding of investment risk, portfolio management, and capital markets.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, and executive leadership skills.
Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, accounting, engineering, or a related discipline; MBA, CFA, or other advanced qualification preferred.
