Solutions Architect

Responsibilities
Kforce has a client that is seeking a remote Solutions Architect to join their team. This role will be responsible for designing and delivering scalable, cloud-native solutions that support complex distributed systems and modern application architectures. Responsibilities:
Design scalable microservices architectures using domain-driven design and distributed systems principles
Architect and implement event-driven solutions utilizing Apache Kafka or similar messaging technologies
Define backend and mobile integration strategies, including API design, data modeling, synchronization, and Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) patterns
Standardize containerization practices using Docker across development, testing, and production environments
Design, deploy, and support Kubernetes-based platforms to ensure scalability, resiliency, and high availability
Develop and implement cloud-native solutions leveraging AWS services including EKS, EC2, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, and managed database services
Implement Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation
Establish standards for security, observability, resiliency, and operational excellence across distributed applications
Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA controls where applicable
Lead architecture reviews, technical design sessions, threat modeling exercises, and code reviews
Develop architectural documentation, technical standards, diagrams, and operational runbooks
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve scalability, performance, and maintainability
Mentor engineering teams and promote architecture best practices across the organization
Collaborate with stakeholders to align technical roadmaps with business objectives
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
8+ years of software engineering experience with at least 4+ years in a Solutions Architect, Principal Engineer, or equivalent technical leadership role
Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale distributed systems and cloud-native applications
Experience working within highly regulated environments, such as healthcare, financial services, or other compliance-driven industries, preferred
Experience designing and implementing event-driven architectures utilizing Apache Kafka or similar messaging technologies
Experience developing GraphQL and REST APIs, including integration and performance optimization
Experience designing backend and mobile integration architectures, including synchronization and Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) patterns
Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native deployment practices
Advanced AWS experience including EKS, EC2, S3, Lambda, API Gateway, and managed database services
Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation
Experience conducting architecture reviews, threat modeling, and proof-of-concept initiatives
Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL, NoSQL databases, distributed data modeling, and caching technologies such as Redis
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, GitOps methodologies, and automated deployment strategies
Strong understanding of security architecture, observability, monitoring, resiliency, and compliance requirements
Strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices architecture, and domain-driven design
Demonstrated success leading technical initiatives and influencing architecture strategy across multiple teams
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Ability to evaluate architectural options, manage technical risk, and make data-driven technology decisions
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
