Audit & Assurance Manager / Senior Manager (HUD Focus)
Step into a high-level assurance and advisory leadership role within our firm, serving as our primary subject matter expert for Housing & Urban Development (HUD) engagements while managing additional audit engagements across Employee Benefit Plans, Not-for-Profits, and private businesses.
What you'll do
Lead and direct HUD compliance audits and engagements end-to-end, serving as the firm's primary technical expert on HUD guidelines, REAC submissions, and regulatory requirements
Oversee audit, review, and compilation engagements across secondary sectors including Employee Benefit Plans (EBP), Not-for-Profits, and closely held private companies, ensuring full compliance with GAAP, GAAS, GAGAS, and SSARS
Perform high-level technical reviews of workpapers, financial statements, and regulatory filings prepared by seniors and staff, delivering actionable coaching and feedback
Serve as the primary relationship lead for assigned HUD and commercial accounts, keeping clients compliant with regulatory changes and identifying proactive advisory opportunities
Monitor evolving HUD, governmental, and general accounting standards, communicating critical updates to clients and internal engagement teams
Mentor, evaluate, and train staff auditors and senior associates to support their technical development and career progression
Support firm growth through participation in proposals, HUD industry networking, and inter-departmental collaboration with tax and advisory teams
What you need
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
Active CPA license
5+ years of progressive public accounting audit experience with significant hands-on expertise leading HUD / affordable housing engagements
Solid working knowledge of HUD guidelines, Yellow Book (GAGAS), US GAAP, GAAS, and SSARS
Background managing concurrent client engagements, project budgets, and team workflows in a supervisory capacity
Proficiency with paperless audit software (e.g., CCH Engagement or CaseWare)
Nice to have
Experience with Employee Benefit Plan (EBP) audits, Uniform Guidance / Single Audits, or Not-for-Profit organizations
Master's degree in Accounting, Taxation, or MBA
Prior experience with REAC electronic submissions and regulatory controversy support
Pay & benefits
Base salary: $130,000-$180,000 per year, commensurate with experience and title
