Senior Java Engineer – Concurrency & Kafka
Location: Poland – [Fully Remote]
Contract: [B2B / employment contract]
The opportunity
RE Partners is hiring a Senior Java Engineer to join a major technology programme for one of the world’s leading global banks. You will help develop high-performance, business-critical platforms operating at significant scale. This is a hands-on engineering position where Java performance, concurrency, resilience, and real-time data processing genuinely matter.
What you’ll do
Design and develop scalable applications using Java
Build concurrent, multithreaded and high-throughput services
Develop event-driven and streaming solutions using Kafka
Improve system performance, resilience and maintainability
Profile and troubleshoot JVM and production-performance issues
Work with containerised applications deployed through Kubernetes
Contribute to architecture and technical-design decisions
Collaborate with experienced engineers across an international programme
Essential experience
Strong commercial experience with modern Java
In-depth understanding of concurrency, multithreading, JVM behaviour and the Java Memory Model
Experience building distributed, event-driven or streaming applications
Hands-on experience with Kafka or another enterprise messaging platform
Good understanding of algorithms, data structures and software-design principles
Experience with Kubernetes and Docker
Strong problem-solving and communication skills
Professional working proficiency in English
Nice to have:
Java performance profiling and production troubleshooting
Oracle or MongoDB
OpenShift or public-cloud experience
Additional messaging platforms such as Solace, RabbitMQ or IBM MQ
Previous experience in banking, payments, FX or risk systems
