Role Description The Software Quality Assurance Engineer will work in a remote, contract capacity, ensuring that software products meet defined quality standards before release. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and executing test plans and test cases, performing manual testing across different platforms and environments, and documenting defects with clear, reproducible steps. The role involves collaborating closely with software developers, product managers, and other stakeholders to understand requirements, clarify acceptance criteria, and help refine the overall quality strategy. The engineer will also contribute to process improvements, participate in reviews, and provide thoughtful feedback to support continuous enhancement of the development and testing lifecycle.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong skills in Software Quality, Quality Assurance, and Software Quality Assurance to ensure robust testing coverage and consistent standards.
Candidates should possess solid Manual Testing skills, including test case design, execution, and defect tracking across multiple platforms and devices.
Candidates should possess foundational Software Development knowledge to understand code changes, system architecture, and technical implications of requirements.
Experience with common testing tools and issue-tracking systems (e.g., JIRA, TestRail, or similar) and familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a structured approach to documenting and communicating findings.
Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate in remote, cross-functional teams across time zones.
Experience with API, integration, or regression testing; exposure to automation frameworks is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience in software quality assurance.
