AI Implementation Engineer

TERE is a family office with investments in small and medium-sized operating businesses in Portugal and Ireland. As we expand, we are building an AI & Automation team to improve how these businesses operate and support their growth.
Remote — based in Portugal, with travel within Portugal and to Ireland as needed.
You will build and integrate AI applications and automated workflows across operations, finance, logistics, administration and other business functions.
Some projects will involve complex processes and large volumes of operational data, for example in planning, billing or customer service. Others will focus on simpler back-office automation.
You will develop, test and deploy solutions based on agreed requirements, integrating them with existing systems and maintaining and improving them in use. The role combines software development with an understanding of business processes and close collaboration with the people using the solutions.

What you will do
• Work with the teams involved to understand the requirements, processes and systems relevant to each project.
• Assess the technical options, propose an approach and agree what will be delivered.
• Plan and manage projects through implementation: agree milestones and timelines, coordinate with the people involved, track progress and dependencies, and raise risks or delays early.
• Write code and connect existing tools and systems. Use AI where it helps, and simpler automation where that is enough.
• Test the work with the people who will use it, protect company data and identify decisions that need human review.
• Explain how to use what you have built, write clear documentation and fix problems after it is in use. Check whether it saves time or reduces errors.
• Share solutions and lessons learned with the other businesses.
Experience and skills
• You have built software, automations or AI applications that people use in their work. You can explain your own contribution and what happened after delivery.
• You can program in Python or another suitable language, work with APIs and data, and test and maintain your code.
• You have used LLMs or other AI tools in applications and know how to check their output and recognise their limitations.
• You can talk to people without a technical background, ask clear questions and understand how their work fits together.
• You can organise your work around agreed priorities and ask for help when you need it.
• You can work in Portuguese and English with colleagues in both countries.
A background in software, automation, technical product management or business analysis could fit, provided you have personally built and delivered solutions.
Employment and compensation
