JOB SUMMARY
Angi is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Manager of Financial Reporting and Technical Accounting to join our accounting team. This critical role will be responsible for providing technical accounting expertise, ensuring compliance with US GAAP, and supporting the Company's financial reporting process. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to effectively communicate complex accounting issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
SEC Reporting
- Steward and manage the preparation and filing of all SEC reports, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, and proxy statements, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to regulatory deadlines.
- Lead the drafting, review, and continuous improvement of MD&A, footnote disclosures, and earnings press releases in coordination with Legal, IR, and executive leadership.
- Manage the XBRL tagging process and maintain all EDGAR submissions.
- Stay current on evolving SEC rules, comment letter trends, and disclosure best practices, proactively updating disclosures to reflect new guidance.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors on all SEC reporting and technical accounting matters.
Technical Accounting
- Serve as Angi's subject matter expert on US GAAP, providing authoritative guidance on complex and judgmental accounting areas including revenue recognition (ASC 606), equity compensation (ASC 718), leases (ASC 842), business combinations, goodwill, and debt instruments.
- Research, document, and communicate accounting positions on new transactions, product initiatives, and strategic deals, ensuring alignment with auditors and senior leadership.
- Develop and maintain company-wide accounting policies and ensure consistent application across the organization.
- Monitor and assess the impact of new and proposed accounting standards (FASB/SEC), preparing implementation plans and communicating implications to key stakeholders.
Internal Controls & SOX Compliance
- Oversee and strengthen the SOX control environment related to financial reporting, including control design, documentation, testing, and remediation activities.
- Partner with internal audit and external auditors to support efficient, high-quality audits and reviews.
- Ensure the adequacy and effectiveness of disclosure controls and procedures.
People Leadership & Cross-Functional Partnership
- Recruit, manage, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous growth.
- Act as a strategic advisor to the Controller and CFO on the accounting implications of complex transactions, strategic initiatives, and emerging business decisions.
- Partner with FP&A, Legal, Tax, and Corporate Accounting to align on disclosures, transactions, and accounting conclusions.
- Drive scalability and efficiency through process improvements, automation, and systems enhancements across the reporting and close cycle through the use of AI.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
- 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with substantial time in SEC reporting and technical accounting at a public company and/or Big 4 public accounting firm.
- CPA required.
- Deep, demonstrable knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, with hands-on experience across multiple complex accounting areas.
- Proven track record of managing and developing a team of accounting professionals.
- Strong experience with SOX compliance, including designing, maintaining, and evaluating internal controls over financial reporting.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex accounting matters for non-accounting audiences including the Board, Audit Committee, and executive team.
- Experience with Workiva and EDGAR filing systems.
Preferred
- Experience in a marketplace, technology, or two-sided platform business.
- Background in a high-growth, publicly traded company environment with increasing reporting complexity.
- Familiarity with NetSuite or comparable ERP systems.
- Experience presenting to or preparing materials for an Audit Committee.
Compensation & Benefits
- The base salary band for this position ranges from $120,000 - $195,000, commensurate with experience and performance. Compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location.
