I’m looking for a Technical Co-Founder / Founding CTO to join me at the very beginning of a new startup.
I’m keeping the company and product details private for now, but I’m looking for someone who is genuinely interested in building a company from 0 → 1, rather than joining an already established engineering team.
This will be a hands-on founding role. You would take ownership of the technology side from the early architecture and first build through to scaling the platform and eventually building the engineering team.
What you’ll be responsible for:
• Own the complete technical direction of the company
• Design the initial system architecture and make key technology decisions
• Build the first version of the product and core infrastructure
• Design and develop reliable backend systems and APIs
• Work with databases and data architecture
• Handle third-party APIs and integrations
• Set up cloud infrastructure, deployment and production environments
• Build with security, reliability and scalability in mind from the start
• Set up proper development, testing and CI/CD practices
• Make the system capable of handling growth as the product scales
• Choose the right technologies instead of over-engineering the early product
• Eventually build and lead the engineering team
• Work closely with me on turning the business requirements into a technically solid product
Technical areas that matter for this role:
Backend development, API architecture, database design, cloud infrastructure, system design, security, scalability, production systems and third-party integrations.
Experience with technologies such as Node.js / TypeScript, Python, PostgreSQL, AWS/GCP/Azure, REST/GraphQL, Docker, CI/CD and Redis would be useful. Knowledge of distributed systems and AI/ML would also be valuable where relevant.
More importantly, I’m looking for someone who can think like a builder and co-founder — someone who can look at an idea, break down the technical requirements, decide what actually needs to be built, and then build it.
I want someone who will sit at the table with me, challenge ideas when necessary, make important technical decisions and take real ownership of the technology.
