Role Description This full-time on-site role, based in Bengaluru, focuses on strategic sourcing and costing for precision machining and forging components, particularly in support of new product development (NPD). The Costing Strategic Sourcing Manager will analyze and develop detailed cost models for metal components, evaluate supplier quotations, and negotiate pricing and terms with vendors to ensure competitive and sustainable costs. Responsibilities include collaborating closely with engineering, manufacturing, and NPD teams to align sourcing strategies with technical requirements and project timelines, as well as identifying and qualifying suppliers capable of meeting quality, delivery, and cost targets. The role also involves monitoring market trends in raw materials and manufacturing processes, driving cost optimization initiatives, and maintaining accurate costing databases and reports to support decision-making and long-term sourcing strategies.
Qualifications
Strong expertise in costing for machined, forged, and cast metal components, including development of detailed cost breakdowns and models.
Experience in strategic sourcing and supplier management, including vendor evaluation, negotiation, and long-term supplier relationship building.
Background in new product development (NPD), working with cross-functional teams across engineering, manufacturing, and quality to align sourcing with technical requirements.
Sound understanding of manufacturing processes such as CNC machining, forging, casting, heat treatment, and surface finishing, with the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Proficiency in using cost analysis tools, spreadsheets, ERP systems, and basic data analytics for pricing and cost optimization.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related technical field.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills, with attention to detail and the ability to work with complex data and multiple projects.
Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present cost and sourcing recommendations to stakeholders and leadership.
Demonstrated ability to work on-site in a manufacturing and engineering environment, collaborating effectively with shop-floor teams and suppliers.
Prior experience in precision metal components, automotive, industrial, or defense manufacturing sectors is preferred.
