Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Costing Engineer role based in Bengaluru. The role involves preparing cost estimates and RFQs for precision metal components, including casting, machining, and forging, in collaboration with design, production, and supply chain teams. The Costing Engineer will analyze technical drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to develop accurate cost models and support New Product Development (NPD) activities. Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating with vendors for material and process costs, optimizing manufacturing routes, and identifying cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality. The role also requires maintaining costing databases, participating in cross-functional reviews, and supporting timely, competitive quotations for global customers.
Qualifications
Strong technical understanding of casting, machining, and forging processes, including process selection, routing, and basic tooling concepts.
Experience in cost estimation, RFQ preparation, and pricing models for precision metal components or related manufacturing environments.
Ability to interpret engineering drawings, 2D/3D CAD models, material specifications, and tolerance requirements.
Knowledge of NPD workflows, proto-to-production transitions, and collaboration with design, quality, and production teams.
Proficiency in MS Excel and standard costing tools; familiarity with ERP or MRP systems is an advantage.
Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and data-driven decision-making.
Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline; relevant industrial experience in precision components is preferred.
Understanding of global OEM expectations, basic knowledge of supply chain dynamics, and exposure to quality standards and documentation.
