Role Overview
Responsible for integrating the OMA-DM / FOTA client into the Android 16 OTA path and supporting safe device-fleet updates, rollback and carrier device-management requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Integrate OMA-DM/FOTA client into the Android 16 OTA path.
Implement A/B or Virtual A/B updates using update_engine, including automatic rollback.
Build campaign hooks between the device and device-maker DM server.
Implement carrier-required DM behaviors and policy hooks.
Build full and incremental OTA packages with the BSP team.
Execute FOTA campaign and rollback regression testing.
Produce the OTADM evidence pack for carrier submission.
Mandatory Skills
Hands-on Android OTA integration: update_engine, A/B or Virtual A/B, OTA package generation and AVB.
OMA-DM protocol knowledge: DM Tree, Management Objects, Sessions and FUMO.
Strong Java and C++.
Android system services and Binder.
Experience debugging failed updates and recovering bricked/partially updated devices.
Preferred Skills
US carrier OTADM / device-management certification experience.
Commercial DM client integration / third-party FOTA vendors.
Experience changing device partition layout or update schemes across Android versions.
