Role Description The Marine Sampling Officer at GulfNavis is a full-time, on-site role based on call basis in Europe, Canada & USA. The role involves planning and conducting marine sampling activities from vessels, including collecting water, sediment, and other environmental or operational samples according to established protocols. The Marine Sampling Officer documents sampling procedures, maintains accurate records, and ensures samples are stored and transported safely for analysis. Day-to-day tasks include coordinating with vessel crews, verifying sampling equipment readiness, following maritime safety procedures, and complying with local and international regulations. The role also requires assisting with basic data review, reporting sampling results to relevant stakeholders, and participating in training and drills to maintain high operational and safety standards.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in marine operations, including experience working on or around vessels and understanding of maritime safety practices.
Background in maritime or naval environments, such as experience with navy procedures or structured marine operations.
Practical familiarity with boats and vessel handling, including boarding, movement on deck, and safe work practices at sea.
Knowledge of maritime regulations and standards relevant to sampling activities and marine logistics.
Experience delivering or participating in structured training related to marine safety, sampling protocols, or vessel operations.
Diploma or degree in marine science, maritime studies, environmental science, or a related technical field is preferred.
Ability to work on-site and offshore, with good physical fitness suitable for vessel-based tasks and variable sea conditions.
Strong attention to detail, record-keeping skills, and the ability to follow precise sampling and documentation procedures.
Effective communication skills in English; additional regional language skills are an advantage.
Previous experience in marine sampling, environmental monitoring, or marine logistics in the Gulf region is beneficial.
