Role Description The Statistics Specialist is a full-time remote role responsible for designing and executing statistically valid sampling strategies to support healthcare audits and overpayment analyses. This role involves performing statistical data analysis on large healthcare data sets, validating extrapolation methods, and interpreting results in alignment with regulatory standards and OIG best practices. The Statistics Specialist will collaborate with auditors, legal teams, and clients to translate complex statistical findings into clear, concise reports and recommendations. Day-to-day tasks include verifying data integrity, supporting citation guidebook development with quantitative insights, contributing to quality assurance reviews, and documenting methodologies and assumptions for audit defensibility. The role also includes participating in continuous process improvement initiatives and providing statistical expertise for case building and expert testimony support when needed.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Statistics and Mathematics, with proven experience applying quantitative methods to real-world data sets.
Advanced Statistical Data Analysis skills, including sampling design, extrapolation, and interpretation of complex healthcare or financial data.
Demonstrated Analytical Skills for identifying patterns, anomalies, and trends in large, multi-dimensional data sets.
Effective Communication capabilities to present statistical concepts and findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders in writing and verbally.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
Experience with statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, Python, or similar tools) and strong proficiency in spreadsheets and data visualization tools.
Familiarity with healthcare claims data, audit processes, or compliance frameworks (e.g., OIG, HIPAA) is highly beneficial.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple projects, and maintain high attention to detail and data quality.
