Role Description: Senior Java Full Stack Developer – IBM i Modernization
The Java Full-Stack Developer will design, develop, and maintain end-to-end web applications using Java-based back-end technologies and modern front-end frameworks. Day-to-day responsibilities include writing clean, testable code, integrating APIs and services, optimizing application performance, and collaborating with product managers, architects, and QA engineers to deliver robust solutions.
The role involves participating in code reviews, contributing to technical design discussions, troubleshooting production issues, and supporting continuous integration and deployment pipelines. This is a full-time role based in Bengaluru in a hybrid work model, combining on-site collaboration with flexibility for work-from-home as per business needs. The developer will work on enterprise-grade platforms and AI-driven products that support Antern’s clients across hiring, assessments, and delivery management.
The candidate will analyse legacy applications and business logic, develop microservices and web applications within the programme’s established architecture, integrate enterprise systems, and maintain high standards of quality throughout the modernization journey.
The candidate will join a highly skilled Scrum team focused on accelerating delivery while maintaining high standards of quality.
This SWAT team will work within an existing programme, so candidates must collaborate effectively across multinational teams, communicate clearly, respond positively to feedback and become productive quickly in unfamiliar frameworks and architectural guidelines.
A proactive, delivery-focused attitude and a willingness to take ownership are essential.
Responsibilities:
Participate in the modernization of legacy IBM i (AS/400) applications to Java-based architectures.
Analyze existing business processes, applications, and database structures to define modernization strategies.
Design and develop scalable, secure, and high-performance applications using Java 17 and Spring Boot.
Build and maintain RESTful APIs.
Develop responsive and user-friendly front-end applications using React.
Implement security, logging, monitoring, and exception-handling frameworks.
Design and manage database interactions with DB2 using Spring Data JPA.
Develop integration solutions using Message Queues and enterprise messaging patterns.
Implement email services and system integrations.
Create reusable components and frameworks that comply with the programme’s established architecture, proprietary transformation framework and coding standards.
Perform code reviews and collaborate with other developers.
