Role Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Developer – Java + Kafka with strong hands-on expertise in Java backend development, microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
The ideal candidate should have a strong track record of designing, developing, and delivering enterprise-scale backend solutions using Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Apache Kafka, REST APIs, SQL, and cloud-native technologies.
This is a client-facing role, requiring excellent communication, stakeholder management, technical ownership, and the ability to independently deliver complex projects end-to-end.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
Design and implement microservices-based architectures.
Develop scalable and highly available distributed systems.
Design and implement event-driven architectures using Apache Kafka.
Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and enterprise integrations.
Work with relational databases and write optimized SQL queries.
Design reliable asynchronous communication and messaging solutions.
Develop cloud-native applications and support deployment across cloud environments.
Participate in CI/CD and DevOps activities.
Implement application monitoring, logging, metrics, and observability.
Troubleshoot complex technical and production issues and perform root-cause analysis.
Collaborate with architects, developers, QA, product teams, clients, and other stakeholders.
Take ownership of technical deliverables from design through development, deployment, and production support.
Ensure solutions meet scalability, performance, reliability, security, and maintainability requirements.
Required Technical SkillsJava Backend
Strong hands-on experience with Java
Strong experience with Spring Boot
Good understanding of Java Collections, Multithreading, Exception Handling, JVM concepts, and OOP
Experience building enterprise-grade backend applications
Microservices & Distributed Systems
Strong hands-on experience with Microservices Architecture
Understanding of distributed systems
Experience with scalability, availability, fault tolerance, and asynchronous processing
Understanding of common microservices patterns such as service-to-service communication, resilience, and configuration management
Apache Kafka – Mandatory
Strong hands-on experience with Apache Kafka
Understanding of Kafka producers, consumers, topics, partitions, offsets, consumer groups, and replication
Experience designing and implementing event-driven architectures
Understanding of message delivery, ordering, retry, and failure-handling mechanisms
Kafka is mandatory for this position
API & Integration
Strong experience developing REST APIs
Experience with enterprise system integrations
Understanding of synchronous and asynchronous integration patterns
Experience with JSON/XML and API authentication mechanisms
Database
Strong SQL skills
Experience with MS SQL Server preferred
Good understanding of database design, joins, indexing, transactions, and query optimization
Experience with ORM technologies such as JPA/Hibernate is preferred
Cloud & DevOps
Experience with cloud-native application development
Exposure to AWS, Azure, or GCP
Experience with Docker
Understanding of Kubernetes/containerized application deployment is preferred
Experience with CI/CD pipelines
Exposure to Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or similar tools
Observability
Experience with application monitoring and observability
Understanding of logging, metrics, tracing, and application health monitoring
Exposure to tools such as ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, or similar platforms is preferred

Employment Details
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire
Contract Duration: 6 Months
Subject to performance and client requirements, the candidate may have an opportunity for full-time employment after the C2H period.
