About the role

Description supplied by the original job listing.

Position: Manager Electronics & Embedded Systems
Department: Electronics & Embedded Systems
Experience: 10–15 years
Location: Gurugram, Haryana
Reports To: Director
Preferred Background: UAV/Drone, Aerospace/Avionics, Defence Electronics, Automotive, Robotics
Role Summary
Own the complete electronics and embedded technology architecture for IoTechWorld's UAV platforms — from concept and design through validation and production. The role is responsible for building an independent, in-house electronics capability and reducing dependence on external and partner engineering teams.
Educational Qualification
• B.E. / B.Tech in Electronics, Electronics & Communication engineering discipline.
• M.E. / M.Tech / M.S. in Electronics / Embedded Systems / VLSI
• Consistent academic record from a recognised institution.
Experience
• 10–15 years of hands-on experience in electronics and embedded systems design and development.
• Minimum 3–5 years in a technical leadership or team-lead role, having led hardware and firmware engineers.
• Demonstrated experience taking electronics products from concept through validation to production.
• Direct experience developing or maintaining UAV flight controllers (STM32H7-class), including firmware, sensor integration and flight-testing.
• Preferred prior experience in UAV/Drone, Aerospace/Avionics, Defence Electronics, Robotics or Industrial Electronics.
Key Responsibilities
• Define electronics architecture for UAVs, including Flight Controller, Power, BMS, GNSS, IMU, RF, sensors and payload interfaces.
• Recruit, build and lead the in-house Hardware, PCB, Firmware, RF and Test teams.
• Drive MCU/processor selection, embedded firmware, communication protocols and system integration.
• Get parts developed by review schematics PCB designs, BOMs and component selection personally.
• Establish design standards for reliability, EMI/EMC and defence/environmental requirements.
• Lead the system integration team for new Drone development.
• Lead prototype development, debugging, validation and production release.
• Build internal electronics IP and reduce dependence on external/partner teams.
• Ensure designs are manufacturable, cost-effective and scalable, working closely with the manufacturing function.
• Manage technical vendors and external development partners.
Technical Skills — Must Have
• Deep hands-on experience with STM32 microcontrollers (STM32H7 / Cortex-M7 class) — architecture, peripherals, low-level programming and debugging.
• Strong firmware development in C and C++ for embedded / real-time flight-controller applications.
• Complete command of communication protocols — UART, SPI, CAN and I²C — including driver development and bus-level debugging.
• Working experience with Linux for embedded systems and companion-computer / payload integration.
• Experience developing or working on drone flight controllers comparable to the IoTech FC: STM32H743-class MCU, triple-IMU redundancy (e.g. ICM-42688 + BMI088), EKF tuning, sensor fusion, temperature calibration and thermal-drift compensation.
• Knowledge of IMU / sensor stacks (ICM-42688, BMI088, ADIS16470-class), gyro/accelerometer noise characterisation and IMU calibration.
• Familiarity with FC I/O and logging architecture — 14x PWM outputs, CAN bus, SD/FRAM logging and payload interfaces.
Technical Skills — Preferred
• RF and communication systems — telemetry links, video transmission, Software-Defined Radio (SDR) and FHSS.
• Camera systems, integration and communication — EO/IR and mapping/LiDAR payloads, camera interfaces and communication.
• Electronic Speed Controllers (ESC) and BLDC motors — control, tuning and integration.
• GNSS / GPS systems and antenna integration — receiver selection, antenna integration and RF placement.
• Experience with the ArduPilot and/or PX4 ecosystems and firmware customisation.
Additional Requirements
Direct drone-industry experience is preferred but not mandatory. UAV-relevant embedded systems depth from adjacent fields is fully acceptable: Aerospace/Avionics and Defence Electronics (reliability, EMI/EMC, environmental qualification); Automotive (BMS, CAN, functional safety, high-volume manufacturability); and Robotics (sensor fusion, GNSS/INS, real-time control). Priority is given to strong technical depth combined with process discipline and the ability to build an in-house capability from the ground up.
Leadership Requirement
A hands-on technical leader, not only a people manager. Must be capable of reviewing designs personally, solving difficult technical problems, and building a strong, independent in-house electronics capability.
