Forward Deployed Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role sits at the intersection of customer success and engineering at a fast-growing AI voice and communication platform for SMEs. You will own the full arc from customer requirements through to live production deployments, acting as the technical bridge between what customers need and what the product can deliver. Your work directly drives customer outcomes and shapes the product roadmap.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Gather and translate customer requirements into concrete, scoped implementation plans.
- Build and deploy AI assistant setups in production, including workflows, logic, prompts, and guardrails.
- Implement integrations with third-party systems such as APIs, webhooks, CRMs, calendars, and ticketing tools.
- Develop small features and glue code to cleanly support specific customer use cases.
- Debug and resolve production issues across call flows, edge cases, and system failures with rapid iteration.
- Build reusable templates and deployment playbooks to scale setups efficiently across customers.
- Deliver prioritized, actionable product feedback grounded in real customer pain points and feature gaps.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 3+ years of experience as a software engineer, full-stack developer, or integration engineer building production systems.
- Demonstrated experience building and deploying AI/LLM-based systems in production, including prompt engineering, tool-use, and RAG pipelines.
- Strong proficiency implementing third-party API integrations, webhooks, and authentication patterns.
- Experience designing and debugging complex workflow automation and business process flows.
- Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) covering deployment, logging, and observability.
- Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Python, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
- Comfort translating customer requirements into technical specs and shipping solutions with minimal guidance.
- Native-level German and fluent English, for both customer interaction and internal collaboration.
- Bonus: experience with workflow automation platforms (such as n8n or Zapier), voice or telephony systems, SQL, monitoring and tracing tooling, or GDPR compliance requirements.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary range: 65,000 to 95,000 EUR annually. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.
LOCATION
Fully remote within the European Union. The company is headquartered in Vienna, Austria.
