Role Description The Senior Food Technologist will lead end-to-end product development activities, from concept to commercialization, with a focus on everyday FMCG food products. This contract role involves designing and conducting experiments, optimizing formulations, and ensuring products meet internal quality benchmarks, regulatory requirements, and consumer expectations. Day-to-day responsibilities include overseeing laboratory trials, managing sensory evaluation panels, documenting results, and collaborating with operations and sourcing teams to ensure scalable, cost-effective production. The role is hybrid, based in Virar with regular on-site work at production and lab facilities, while some tasks such as documentation, data analysis, and coordination can be performed from home. The Senior Food Technologist will also mentor junior team members, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and support market launch readiness through technical insights and product stability verification.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong Food Technology expertise, including formulation development, process optimization, and knowledge of food safety and regulatory standards.
Candidates should possess robust Research and Development (R&D) skills, with experience designing experiments, analyzing data, and translating consumer insights into product specifications.
Candidates should possess solid Sensory Evaluation skills, including setting up sensory panels, developing evaluation protocols, and interpreting consumer and expert feedback.
Candidates should possess practical Laboratory Skills and Quality Control capabilities, including handling lab equipment, conducting routine tests, and implementing quality assurance procedures.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Technology, Food Science, or a closely related discipline.
Relevant experience in FMCG or packaged foods, preferably in product development or quality functions.
Strong documentation, data interpretation, and report-writing skills, with attention to detail and compliance with regulatory standards.
Ability to work effectively in a startup environment, manage multiple projects, and collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, sourcing, and marketing.
Familiarity with shelf-life studies, packaging considerations, and cost optimization is an advantage.
