People Operations Manager

ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a solo, end-to-end People Operations role at a fast-growing AI SaaS startup headquartered in Vienna. You will own the entire people function, from onboarding through offboarding, building the operational backbone that allows the company to scale across multiple countries while keeping culture and compliance intact.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Manage employment contracts, equipment provisioning, workspace setup, and international relocations for all employees.
- Introduce, implement, and own an HRIS tool to centralize people data and automate workflows across systems.
- Own payroll end-to-end, including variable compensation calculations for sales teams.
- Support international hiring across EU and non-EU markets, handling time-tracking, collective agreements, and tax compliance.
- Monitor and maintain compensation bands consistently across teams and countries.
- Design and facilitate feedback cycles, learning and development programs, and career development pathways.
- Organize internal and external events, including hackathons and off-sites.
- Manage employee offboarding with the same rigor as onboarding.
- Build automation and processes that scale with the company's growth.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 3 or more years of People Operations, HR, or Operations experience in a startup or scale-up environment.
- Deep knowledge of Austrian labor law, payroll regulations, and collective agreements.
- Hands-on experience implementing and managing an HRIS platform.
- Experience with payroll administration and variable compensation calculation.
- Proficiency with workflow automation tools such as Zapier, Make, or similar platforms.
- Experience managing international hiring and compliance across multiple countries (EU and non-EU).
- Experience designing compensation band structures across teams or geographies.
- Native German proficiency and strong English communication skills.
- Structured, hands-on working style with a low-ego, people-first mindset.
- Familiarity with AI tools or automation concepts is a plus.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Salary range: 65,000 to 80,000 EUR annually. Visa sponsorship is available.

On-site in Vienna, Austria.
