Commissioning Specialist

Akkodis is seeking a Commissioning Field Specialist for a Full-Time/Direct Hire job with a client supporting data center commissioning projects across the United States. Ideally looking for applicants with a solid experience in Commissioning, and having experience with Big Datacenters, also experience with Power Systems, L3-L5 Commissioning, Critical Systems, PDU, Cooling systems & Chillers This position is responsible for the on-site inspection, validation, testing, verification, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical and mechanical auxiliary equipment within data center environments.
Salary Range: $120,000 to $140,000 Annually; The salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Commissioning Field Specialist job responsibilities include:
Lead on-site commissioning, inspection, functional testing, verification, and troubleshooting of complex electrical, mechanical, and controls systems.
Direct and coordinate vendors, contractors, and field personnel during commissioning activities to ensure safe, accurate, and timely execution.
Develop and execute commissioning plans, pre-functional checklists, and functional performance test (FPT) scripts for complex projects.
Review drawings, specifications, shop drawings, submittals, and sequences of operation to identify commissioning requirements and design discrepancies.
Troubleshoot complex equipment and system issues and provide technical recommendations to resolve deficiencies, failures, and performance gaps.
Support project leadership with field-level project execution, including risk identification, schedule tracking, cost/deviation control, mobilization, and project updates.
Maintain comprehensive commissioning documentation, including test records, issue logs, inspection reports, progress updates, and final commissioning reports.
Serve as a technical point of contact for clients and project teams, communicating field conditions, testing results, risks, and corrective actions while working independently with limited supervision.
Desired Qualifications
3+ years of progressive commissioning, testing, startup, or field engineering experience, preferably in mission-critical, data center, industrial, or complex commercial environments.
Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and controls systems, including the ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and sequences of operation.
Demonstrated experience leading vendors/contractors and coordinating field commissioning activities with minimal day-to-day supervision.
Hands-on experience developing commissioning documentation, including commissioning plans, pre-functional checklists, functional test scripts, test logs, and deficiency reports.
Strong troubleshooting, technical problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to identify risks and resolve complex field issues.
Excellent communication and client-facing skills, with the ability to serve as a technical point of contact and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital project/documentation tools, with strong organizational skills; willingness to leverage AI/emerging technologies and maintain required OSHA/NFPA 70E safety certifications.
