Key Responsibilities
We are looking for a Senior Power BI Developer to review existing reports and dashboards, determine whether they are still needed, and recommend which reports should be retained, improved, combined, archived, or decommissioned.
• Review Power BI reports, dashboards, datasets, data sources, refresh schedules, owners, security, and dependencies.
• Analyze report usage, business value, data quality, performance, duplicate reports, and support effort.
• Meet with business users and report owners to confirm whether reports are still needed and identify replacement or consolidation opportunities.
• Recommend whether each report should be retained, enhanced, consolidated, archived, or decommissioned.
• Identify the impact of retiring reports, including dependent datasets, subscriptions, users, dataflows, refresh jobs, exports, and embedded reports.
• Develop or improve Power BI dashboards, reports, data models, DAX measures, Power Query transformations, and row-level security where needed.
• Create basic report-governance standards for ownership, documentation, access, lifecycle status, naming, and decommissioning.
• Prepare a report inventory, assessment summary, recommendations, decommissioning plan, and roadmap.
Required Skills
• 7+ years of Power BI development experience.
• Strong experience with Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, DAX, Power Query, SQL, data modeling, dashboards, and reports.
• Experience with Power BI workspaces, datasets/semantic models, refresh schedules, gateways, security, and row-level security.
• Experience analyzing report usage, performance, data quality, and business requirements.
• Strong communication skills to work with business users, report owners, and technical teams.
• Ability to document findings and make clear recommendations
